If "The Da Vinci Code" was already feeding the flames of controversy with its challenge to the basic tenets of Christianity, actor Ian McKellen managed to pour a refinery tank's worth of gasoline on the fire on this morning's 'Today' show, asserting that the Bible should carry a disclaimer saying that it is "fiction." Matt Lauer, in his second day "On The Road With The Code," was in Cannes for the film festival, where the Code will have its debut. It has already been screened to some critics, who have given it decidedly mixed reviews.
As I reported here, NBC reporter Melissa Stark yesterday dipped a timid toe in the sea of controversy when she interviewed Code director Ron Howard, asking how he reacted to the controversy the movie has created . . . for the Church! Sounding more like a sensitivity trainer than a Hollywood director, Howard offered up some ambiguous prose about it being healthy thing for people to engage their beliefs.
GANDALF! NOOOOO!!!!!!!
Yes, very, very sick. I have not seen a Hollywood movie in seven years. I will continue to stay away and not even rent their product as long as they continue to mock my values.
Ian, How Gay!
I see Gandalf the Fairy still can't keep his mouth shut.
I wonder if he believes the Koran should also, and if so, why he has not expressed that opinion publically???
Silly old queen.
LOL! Why didn't I think of that!
I'd ask him if he would be willing to say the same thing about the Koran. Also would he be willing to star in a movie depicting fictional theories about the Prophet Muhammed. It would be interesting to see just how courageous this person is.
The media will brush that little quote under the rug. Unlike with Gibson's father made a dumb quote.
Matthew 08-12: 11"I baptize you with[a] water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire. 12His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire."
Well, Ian, you've spent your entire life ignoring the evidence that the Bible is true. May you have more time to see it before you die.. because there will finally be certain evidence you won't be able to ignore.
Welcome, Thread #3!
He may think it's fiction now but there will come a day where he will bow to him...
-------
Remember, each of us will stand personally before the judgment seat of God. 11For the Scriptures say,
" `As surely as I live,' says the Lord,
`every knee will bow to me
and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.' "[b]
12Yes, each of us will have to give a personal account to God. Romans 14:10-12
But I read all the way to and through the back of The Book and Jesus wins which means we win too. So many will learn the hardest of hard ways. Very sad, but it's the Truth.

he's just trying to stir up interest in the movie. he's an old pro, it'll probably work pretty well.
i wish i could not see this movie based on the fact that the book was terrible and bad books = worse movies (see: dreamcatcher), but i made a committment to see 30 summer movies and this is on the list.
snakes on a plane is the highlight of the summer movie season for me.
