I am curious though is Notes still a big deal given the number of other ways to collaborate? At my last position, they used Notes.

I'm glad I left.i miss Lotus Smart Suite. i hope they release a Linux version. It was an idiot proof product. Since i'm too much an idiot to be able to run WINE...
BTW, i found that Lotus Smart Suite runs fine on Windows XP, even though the version i have was designed for upgrade from Windows 3.1 to Windows 95. i guess "DOS still ain't done". ("DOS ain't done till Lotus won't run").
