Wow
This is not a political movie. It deals with two Port Authority policemen who get trapped beneath the rubble.
Flight 93 was an excellent movie, by a liberal producer/director.
His making this kind of flick seems as impossible as his making "To Halliburton, With Love."
He uses the "e" word to describe what Al Qaeda did. He must be on some serious behavior modification medication.
You know, I predict overall it will be good, but there may be little bits of political correctness and cheap shots at the president. I don't know how much of this was Stone and how much was marketing, but it is telling that they used the word "evil".
My thoughts exactly. I've watched this trailer now a half dozen times and I can't believe I had not even heard this film was being made until today. I guess I should've renewed my subscription to Entertainment Weekly.
I pray Stone keeps his personal politics out of this film. It could be the movie of the year. The trailer is just stunning.
Ha, I'll give anyone a chance. Your issues aside, I for one support the guys who went in there. Any movie that potrays thier heroism surpasses politics.
Troll away.
The decade.
Are you high? Do you even know who Oliver Stone is? Obviously not if you think anything he would make is not political.
You know, I'm going to make sure I see it the day it opens, which is Wednesday, Aug. 9th.
And I'm going to take a bunch of people with me.
God you are wrong. This is a movie about men who took a heroic stand. Regardless of politics. Repub or Dem, I will not forget. Watch the trailer, there are no politics there, only men doing their best in a bad situation.
Sometimes we need to drop the anger and pull togther.
Ooops my soapbox just broke .
"Flight 93 was an excellent movie, by a liberal producer/director."
I agree. There's politics and then there is personal tragedy and heroism. Another example is "The West Wing", whose fictional White House is decidedly left wing. However, there was a storyline about a terrorist attack on University sports facilities, which echoes 9-11 and has some of the most powerful writing I've ever heard on television:
"More than any time in recent history, America's destiny is not of our own choosing.
We did not seek nor did we provoke an assault on our freedom and our way of life. We did not expect nor did we invite a confrontation with evil. Yet the true measure of a people's strength is how they rise to master that moment when it does arive.
Forty-four people were killed a couple of hours ago at Kennison State University. Three swimmers from the men's team were killed and two others are in critical condition. When, after having heard the explosion from their practice facility, they ran into the fire to help get people out. Ran into the fire.
The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels tonight. They're our students and our teachers and our parents and our friends. The streets of heaven are too crowded with angels, but every time we think we have measured our capacity to meet a challenge, we look up and we're reminded that that capacity may well be limitless.
This is a time for American heroes. We will do what is hard. We will achieve what is great. This is a time for American heroes and we reach for the stars.
God bless their memory. God bless you, and God bless the United State of America. Thank you."
The "Ran into the fire" line clearly refers to the NY firefighters.
I have to agree with you, I was stunned by the trailer, it's very powerful just *seeing* images that might have taken place inside the towers that terrible day.
If you haven't seen the trailer, do check it out.

I sincerely hope that Oliver Stone doesn't turn it into a political attack/conspiracy type of movie, and that it truly is a memorial to those wonderful people who sacrificed themselves for others that terrible day. :*(
Who knows? This movie may actually help wake up people who've fallen into complacency over 9/11! Curious to see how OS portrays President Bush in the movie. Hopefully he won't be petty like MM and so many others.
Let's see, the great historical revisionist is rewarded with this project after he loses a zillion dollars on Alexander.
Mel Gibson, after his huge blockbuster The Passion of Christ...gets a pass.
Giving The World Trade Center project to Oliver Stone equates with Himmler providing security for synagogues.
Remember in animal farm, it's the pigs that rewrite history.
Exactly what I've been trying to say. Thank you.
There's fiction and reality. Join it. We lost many people in multiple attacks during the 90s when the real CiC was decidedly left wing. He did nothing, paved the way for what happened on 9/11, and remains beloved by the MSM and many citizens.
We have a president who is now taking the fight directly to the terrorists and he is critized, maligned, and mocked at every opportunity by the same people mentioned above. You're giving this speech to the wrong people.......
