WARNER ROBINS - A Warner Robins man who scaled a billboard Saturday to watch the air show at Robins Air Force Base survived a 50-foot fall.
Christopher Gerbig, 39, of 806 McArthur Blvd., was recovering today at The Medical Center of Central Georgia.
"Gerbig, who was intoxicated - alcohol - apparently lost his balance and fell 50 feet," the sheriff's report said.
Gerbig, who works in construction, was among hundreds of people who lined the perimeter of the base to get a glimpse of the death-defying aircraft maneuvers.
"It was my own fault ... It was my own foolishness, and that's the only comment I have," Gerbig said this morning by telephone from his hospital room.
The accident happened at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at 92 Bargain Road, the site of Carpenter's Construction.
At least his response wasn't, "It was my own fault ... It was my own foolishness, and I'm gonna sue."
The fall would have killed a sober man.
Alcohol will enable the otherwise sane man, do insane things.
That was a heck of a fall. It's a good thing he was drunk for it!
That's what happens when you ask someone to hold your beer 50' below you on the ground.
Well, the Sheriff's department wins the top daily prize from the Department of Redundancy Department! Like we couldn't figure out Bubba was drunk!
Gerbig, who works in construction, was among hundreds of people who lined the perimeter of the base to get a glimpse of the death-defying aircraft maneuvers.
Talk about getting to see more than you bargained for!
No joke, nobody could've guessed that beer was a factor here.
