Duke Lacrosse DNA: Mystery Man Revealed (Accuser's Boyfriend!!!)
ABC News ^ | 13 May 06 | CHRIS CUOMO, GERRY WAGSCHAL, CHRIS FRANCESCANI and LARA SETRAKIAN

May 13, 2006 — The second round of DNA test results in the Duke University rape investigation show "no conclusive match'' to any lacrosse players, defense attorneys said, but a vaginal swab of the alleged rape victim produced DNA from a "single male source'' — a man not on the lacrosse team who did not attend a March 13 party that was the site of the alleged rape.

Joe Cheshire, a defense attorney for Duke University lacrosse players at the center of a rape investigation, said the latest tests show no conclusive match to any of the lacrosse players' DNA. (ABC News

Defense attorney Joe Chesire declined to identify the mystery man or his connection to the alleged victim, but ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned that the unnamed source of the DNA is the alleged victim's "boyfriend," according to her mother.

ABC News is withholding the name of the man because he is apparently not a target of the investigation. Records indicate that Durham, N.C., police gave the "boyfriend'' a cheek swab to collect DNA on May 3, ABC News' Law and Justice Unit has learned exclusively.

It is unclear if or how the first DNA tests missed what appears to be the only foreign genetic material found on the alleged victim's body, defense attorneys said. Two Duke lacrosse players were indicted more than two weeks before the cheek swab was taken from the "boyfriend."

It is also unclear whether the alleged victim had sex with the "boyfriend" the night she claims to have been raped by three Duke lacrosse players. DNA experts tell ABC News that genetic traces of semen can remain in the body up to six days after intercouse.

Very interesting, Jrabbit. Obviously, that info came from the defense, which means they must be able to prove the players didn't put the four nails there after the search. What would explain the police not finding them? How could the defense prove police overlooked them?

The lacrosse boys could have used condoms. I didn't know that it was a crime to have sex with your boyfriend. The media seems to be putting the the accuser on trail not the accused. It would be better if the only information that either side could put out in the media was information that was admissible in court. It would save us from hearing this stupid high school gossip sh_t.

I don't know....unless they blended in with whatever surface they were on....but wouldn't a forensic person have searched the bathroom because that's where she claims the dastardly deeds were done? Fingerprints and such?

DNA "from a male source" was found on a vaginal swab. CNN called it semen.

Thanks, but I was the semen outside of her vagina on her body as well, the post said in her hair and on her leg. Has that been documented or is that just speculation.

All the while, Williams was employed in another job, first as a Butner police officer and currently with the Durham Police Department's crime analysis unit, according to commission records.

Have we determined that this is the same Investigator Williams who was assigned with Investigator Himan to set up the power point presentation of the players?

The prosecutor is the one who started this with 70 news conferences. The defense is allowed, under the law, to respond.

There was no condom used by anyone. The was established by the medical exam. The woman said, in her statement to the police, that she did not have consensual sex with anyone during the previous week.

But we now know that she had sex with someone, and the police know who it is. And it isn't a Duke student.

So if she had non-consensual sex with someone, and the police know who it is, why hasn't he been arrested?

Also, the prosecutor has implied that a date-rape drug was used. Since she doesn't remember having consensual sex with anyone, but she did have sex with someone, doesn't it make sense the the person known by the police to have had sex with her also drugged her?

You're entitled to your opinion. I can offer just as many reasons as to why it will affect the voting of SOME who might otherwise be tempted to get off the Dem Plantation and vote for a top tier black Republican candidate. But why bother? You have all the answers.

It gave me a laugh.

I thought the vaginal swab was the only reference to semen being found...but could be wrong.

I'm sorry...did I say Nifong is running the national Dem strategy? I'm not so foolish as to believe that or to come on here and say it. He doesn't have to be in charge of it, or care deeply about it, to be useful. Not to mention, someone could have made it very worthwhile for him. But why bother discussing it with someone who already knows everything?

I haven't heard anything from the defense other than "male genetic material" from a "single male" found on a vaginal swab, according to Joe Cheshire. At the presser he said that despite the DA saying earlier no semen had been retrieved "We NOW know ...", which sounds to me like the defense was unaware "male genetic material" existed until the latest DNA results.

Wasn't there a report where the defense said there were fingernails found AFTER the search warrant?

I remember the report, but can't find it right now. I think the defense said they found unpainted nails and the search warrant was looking for reddish nails.
