So far there has been no evidence that points to the Duke players....In fact, if you've been paying attention, it all points somewhere else.
That is of course unless you believe the statement of Crystal--a known drunk, prostitute, with an arrest record.
Your choice......
I wish Cheshire had been clearer at the presser on how the nails came to police. Did the guys pluck them from the trash and hand them over, which sounds strange? Or did the guys see "fake fingernails" on the search warrant and tell police they had put them in the trash can, which sounds reasonable and exeulpatory?
Taken from the last two paragraphs of the posted thread:
"The fake fingernail was found inside a garbage can in the bathroom of the off campus home where the party was thrown. The garbage can also contained tissues, Q-Tips, and other materials, defense lawyers said. They said that players removed the plastic nail from the garbage and gave it to police."
"Is that consistent with someone that knowledgeably and knowingly committed a rape?" Cheshire said. "That they would leave fingernails that were ripped off a person in a violent struggle in their trash can after they're told there's an investigation and that police were going to come to their house and when the police do, they give them the fingernails?"
That's exactly what the players did. Took them out of the garbage and gave them to the police.
Re-reading you question....so sorry. You knew that already! (Red-face!)
He said that they put them in the trash can and then took them out and carried them to the police.
They weren't at the house when they served the search warrant; I got the impression it was during the part where they were cooperating; you know, the part where they must have been thinking, "If I show them this, they'll know nothing happened."
Exactly. If you're guilty, why not take them out and bury them somewhere?
Again, sorry.
I've been reading some of these posters' comments on the Duke threads and apparently some of them just now tuned into a two month old case, evident by their comments and questions.
I should have known....you have kept up with the story.
This post was meant for you. I mistakenly sent it to myself.....
Again, sorry.

Wasn't there a report where the defense said there were fingernails found AFTER the search warrant?
I was looking for some info I had run across a couple of weeks ago to provide bvw with the $ amount of Duke's contributions to Durham, and ran across this:
http://www.dukenews.duke.edu/2004/06/conner_0604.html
I realize the letter is almost 2 years old, but it appears the agreement Duke had with Durham PD expires this year. I wonder if Duke's resistance to contributing even more than they already do has anything to do with the desire to make Duke pay in other ways? (iow, press on (nail joke intended) with this charade)
Gotta run to see mama. Will check in later to see what's going on.
Someone mentioned on here a lot earlier in the case that they weren't sure if nifong was just a power-hungry conniving politico or just a run-of-the-mill stupid DA. I think we know the answer to that question now.
"....if Crystal's daughter is 12, as another site claims...."
can you put up a link to this info? I came across something about a month ago that made me wonder if she had a middle-school aged daughter, but just let it go because the stated ages of her kids were 5 and 7.

Mangum supposedly got pregnant while in the Navy. If true, her childn't shouldn't be 12 years old.
That certainly explains a few things.... thanks..
grom the letter....
"......and our significant economic investments in projects such as American Tobacco, which has such promise for revitalizing downtown Durham."
Whoa! American Tobacco? Isn't that one of the buildings owned by the real estate company of Lavonia whatever-her-last-name-is?
Thanks.....the 12 y/o kids name there is different than what I saw elsewhere.
DNA "from a male source" was found on a vaginal swab. CNN called it semen.
