The departure of rocker Chris Daughtry from "American Idol" means that the squishy middle has won once again. Daughtry was voted off the show this week, leaving behind three uninspired performers who may appeal to the masses but lack any distinctive personal style.
After weeks of patiently watching, obsessing and praying for Elliott Yamin, Katharine McPhee and Taylor Hicks to reveal some sense of personal aesthetics, there has been nothing but disappointment.

Screw this lady. She's blind. Taylor is probably the most out there performer that the show has ever seen and his fan base is rather rabid. Elliott is the underdog who keeps improving and McPhee, while enigmatic, certainly projects some interesting, er, features.
And for the record, Daughtry was good but nothing people have not already heard planty of times on the Alt. rock channels. Plus, his personality came across as a mixed bag for people. Some liked it, some didn't.

I have never watched the show and don't plan to, but my son messaged me the other day and asked me to call Elliot's number to see if I could get through because he couldn't. I did. For whatever that's worth. Elliot's voice mail thanked me.
They recorded a message that you get when you call them.
Yes, I understood that. Thanks! :)
WAHHH! If the people wanted Chris they would have voted for him. They voted for the stupid fat chick that cant sing, so thats what they got.
The ego hasnt landed.
American Idol castoff Chris Daughtry thinks voter laziness, not lousy vocals, got him booted from the Fox talent show Wednesday night.
You know what, maybe people thought I was safe and didnt vote as much, said the 26-year-old rocker in a conference call yesterday.
Considered a favorite to win among the judges, bloggers and even online betting sites, the wannabe star said he tried to block the hype out the best he could.
But it looks as though it didnt work.
When everyone is telling you you are going to win, its a real blow, he said. (It was) very gut-wrenching the way it happened. I thought (Ryan Seacrest) was building it up that people thought I was going home or say Chris, you are going home tomorrow . . . on a private jet to your hometown. I thought he was just kidding. I was not expecting that, not even a little.
But the pompous performer does expect a flood of opportunities, including a deal with the band Fuel.
I cant really talk about (offers), he said. Some are lined up. Ive got to feel out all offers and whats right for me. I have to take everything into consideration and be careful. I dont want to make a rash decision. (But) Im a songwriter myself and to be able to launch my own career is my dream.
Agree. Taylor is the most unique performer the show has had ever. Chris couldn't carry his jock. Probably couldn't reach it either!!!
The major media is all about appearances. Chris LOOKED like a winner. But it is all about sounding like a winner.
Taylor will win this thing and the media will hate it. Maybe Taylor should protest something, then they'll love him.
