It is a fantasy and not a real story.
The problem is some numskulls are running around talking about it like some missing part of real history.
IMO, the Catholic Church in masses need to just tell the people to be aware that the whole thing is fantasy and not a real at all. That a few real points are included to make it seem true, which is always the best way to push a lie.

Oh, it's very very real to Catholics, especially devout ones. It is an absolute offense.
I spend this afternoon with others in front of the Blessed Sacrament offering prayers of reparation for this offense.

It presents an opportunity to tell the real story, which is much more wonderful.
