Scientology appears to be the next big thing Hollywood is going to try to push on Americans in their ongoing culture war.
A buddy sent me this video clip with a former Pittsburgh Steeler giving an overview of Scientology in an interview. If you don't know much about this "religion", I recommend you watch.
Not convinced? Here is a quick list of Hollywood "Stars" that may be following this quack of a religion: Tom Cruise, Jenna Elfman, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley, Ann Archer, Nicolle Kidman, Nancy Cartwright, Lisa Marie Presley, Priscilla Presley, Kelly Preston, Isaac Hayes, Katie Holmes
We need to stop this attack on our culture before it picks up too much steam.
IB4TZ?
Barely....lol.
At least today there is the Internet where there is a lot of information on the different cults such as the Bible Based cults like the JWs and Mormons, the moonies, the scientologists etc.
Steve Hassan has great books dealing with combating mind control and learning how to spot these cults.
I think it is very important that adults and children are aware on what to look for and how to prevent them or their love ones from joining these high groups (kinda like vaccinating them) because once a person gets sucked in, it is very difficult for them to leave the group.
It's the religion - cult - of choice for Hollywood celebrities and nothing more.
Nicolle Kidman left that cult. She returned to her roots as a Roman Catholic. From what I understand, she wasn't in it long enough to get sucked into its FUBAR vortex. She got out before it was too late. Still don't know if and when she and Keith Urban will get marrried. Whenever that occurs, it'll be in a Catholic church in Sydney, NSW, Australia.
Proving that Nicole is not a complete dolt like the other celebs listed. I guess I shouldn't call them dolts (even though most of them are), because smart people get caught up in cults too. People so inclined can find the cult that meets a psychological, emotional or ego need.

also from that site:
"The Young Turks, the first nationwide liberal talk show and first live, daily internet TV show, is a funny, smart, irreverent and entertaining look at politics, sex, news, pop culture, current affairs and personal stories."
and:
"I also said in February that the Republicans would turn on George Bush when he hit 34%. Those numbers were simply too low for sensible politicians to stay in his corner. And since that time, the Republican Party has been at each other's throats. Their legendary party loyalty and discipline has given away to bickering and backbiting (which I must confess, I have thoroughly enjoyed)."
Welcome to FR.
A very good source on Scien" are they totally nuts" tology is www.xenu.net. Lots of good articles and links.
You might also want to check out the newsgroup altscientology.net ( hope that is the right name).
Another good source on cults in general is Rick Ross' website. Sorry I do not know the URL.
Scientology has its orgins in occultism. Hubbard was a friend of Aleister Crowley's. There is nothing benign about the cult of Scientology. Its greatest achievement is the ability to empty wallets, bank accounts and stock portfolios in the blink of an eye.
Why?
Actually, I believe that the newsgroup is alt.religion.scientology
