In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
an·ar·throus (n-ärth-rs)adjective
Linguistics. Occurring without an article. Used especially of Greek nouns.
Zoology. Lacking joints.
Example sentence:
Novelist Dan Brown staggered through the formulaic splendour of his opening sentence. I've discussed his anarthrous kickoff with a couple of novelists and they say things like, "It doesn't sound like a novel," and I usually reply that that's the point. If The Da Vinci Code were just a novel, it would just be crummy writing.
Etymology:
From Greek anarthros, not articulated : an-, without.
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

WFB's attempt to emulate us ; ) No pushing at the door please!
LOL!!
Witnesses said the bomb exploded in "a large fireball," and then rolled back toward Wilkins, igniting his shorts.
I hate it when that happens!
What part of "Mother's Day" did this guy not understand? Or maybe he thought that when his friends always referred to him as "one sick mother" that meant he was entitled?
HAH!!!
Hi Slippy. That is such a catchy little tune.
You've been hanging around Robert today, haven't you?
Hey, who is that impersonating the tiger? How are the cubs?
Such a clever guy. A+!
I think it's an imposter.
We've missed you!
And that is infintely better than an "imposer" ;^)
Besides, she has that Dago to keep a smile on her face.
Hi there yourself! Just felt like dropping in on this thread this morning. Tis never a disappointment.
Love your WFTD!
A friend of mine in Humble just contacted me and this boy is a friend of her daughter. He is also a neighbor of hers and they are all devastated.
Reason I haven't been in lately: I didn't know it was Mother's Day on Sunday and my parents'-in-law anniversary was yesterday. Having a big party for them on Sunday, and I'm already tired. Sheesh. I really should keep some kind of a calendar.
It sounds like he's insane.
Lucky her!
