The saga continues in the Bronx this week. The Sox send out Beckett, Wakefield and Schilling. The Yankees counter with Randy Johnson, Mike Mussina and Shawn Chacon.
The New York Post ran a back cover story questioning why anyone has not dared to throw at David Ortiz.. (maybe because he is 6' 4" and weighs 250 lbs) Sox offseason pickup Josh Beckett returns to Yankee Stadium for the first time since Game 6 of the 2003 World Series.
Series returns to NY after an abbreviated series last week in Boston where Boston fans expressed their true feelings about Johnny Damon.
$200 Million doesn't buy what it used to...
I wouldn't go so far to say that Mo sucks, but Randy Johnson sure does lately. That Yankee DL is pretty amazing, isn't it?
Caught David Wright's walkoff single off Mariano in the 9th tonight... Mets win!
AND Red Sox win in Philadelphia! ;-D
We're heading to Citizens Bank Park in Philly tomorrow AM for Saturday and Sunday's games. We'll do our best to get the Red Sox chants going...
I forgot that Mo came in tonight partially because Farnsworth complained of back tightness.
Technically a single, but 100% a 2-bagger in reality. He cleaned that pitch out.
Tonight was a rare night that we could even catch a Mets (or Yankees) game on TV. WB11 sometimes runs Mets or Yankees games on Friday nights here (maybe the same for you?). We were flipping back and forth between that game and the Red Sox-Phillies game. Great night for baseball! :o)
F-ck the Yank-ees (clap clap clap clap) F-ck the Yank-ees (clap clap clap clap)!
Cautiously optimistic here!
I heard last night's Sox-Phils game on the radio (I work nights at the post office). In the 9th inning when Papelbon had a two-strike count on the batter with two outs you could hear a loud "two strike" cheer by all the Boston fans there (and there were many!), followed by the Phillies fans trying to boo them down.
Then I put on WCBS (Yanks network) and WFAN (Mets network--
of course the NY stations can be picked up fairly easily at night from great distances) and heard that their game had
ended, and how it had ended. Let's hear it for the best
MLB team from New York (just compare the won-loss
records)--the Mets! Hope Pedro beats Mussina today.
You prob. won't see this till you get back, Nutmeg, but let me say I went to Citizen's Bank Park on a Saturday last summer. Good view from right field; nice park. A bell rings (as in the Liberty Bell) and rocks back and forth when a Phillie hit a HR.
The good news: there's tons of $10 parking. The bad news:
it took me about an hour to get out of that lot...
I believe this weekend:
Yanks-Mets Sat afternoon on Fox broadcast (Ch 25 in Boston)
Sox-Phils Sat night on NESN
Sox-Phils Sun afternoon on NESN
Yanks-Mets Sun night on ESPN
I like listening to/watching Yankees games--when they lose!!
Sox and Yanks games are on TV and radio in most of Conn.,
I've experienced...in one of my fave destinations, Burlington, VT, the Sox are on WJOY AM 1230 and the Yanks
on WVMT AM 620.
More than a few Yanks fans among the Sox fans up there.
A pizza place in Colchester (nearby) called the NY Pizza Oven with pix of Yankees teams inside (just down the street from
the WVMT transmitter; you could probably pick up the
Bombers on your fillings...) So when I'm up there I can hear and cheer the Sox, and occasionally check in on the
Evil Empire to see what they're doing. Hopefully, I'll
tune in just in time to hear the Yankee fans booing
Randy J. off the mound!
New series back in Boston. Yankees are banged up, Schilling looking old.
Let's see how this series breaks out!!
WOOOO HOOOO!!!
GO SOX!!!!!!!!!
I am away on business in St. Louis...I feel like I am watching the Sawks on holy ground.
Schilling has a 9 pitch inning....looks good.
2 more K's in inning 2. Seems to have all his pitches working. Punched out Juice-ambi, Posada and Cano.
1-0 wankees....
Boooo
A nice outing by schill would be nice!
