Its not the first time he's said it, but Guns 'N Roses frontman Axl Rose has claimed that his band's new album will be released before the end of the year.
The album 'Chinese Democracy' has been recorded with various line-ups over the past ten years and umpteen previous touted release dates have come and gone with no actual album release.
The singer announced the latest release plans while making a surprise appearance on a New York radio show.
Co-host of the Eddie Trunk show and former Skid Row frontman, Sebastian Bach, phoned Rose live on air. The reclusive singer surprisingly accepted an invitation to come to the studio later in the day.
It was Rose's first in-depth interview since a 2002 comeback tour was cancelled midway following no-shows and fan riots.
Rose said that the new album would be released: "Sometime this fall or late fall. It will be out this year."
Earlier this year, tracks purported to be from the long-delayed album were leaked online and played by several radio stations. Rose also included a new song on the soundtrack to the 1999 Arnold Schwarzenegger film 'End Of Days' and debuted several new songs during the 2002 tour.
Commenting on the failed tour, Rose said he had been pressured into doing it before he was ready.
He is now taking the band back on tour, beginning on May 12 with four nights at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom.
Although he claimed the band to be largely unchanged from that which performed in 2002 and the new lead guitarist to replace the departed Buckethead was not a former Guns 'N Roses member, rumours have been flying about a revival of the band's classic line-up.
Rose himself mentioned he had been hanging out with former Guns guitarist Izzy Stradlin, while Velvet Revolver the band formed by previous Guns 'N Roses members Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum is said to be on the brink of collapse.
Said DJ Eddie Trunk of the interview: "Axl looked great and was totally cool. His only request was no photos."
What the heck does he even look like now? Has he been holed up in an opium den somewhere?
I'm still amazed that the wimpy dirtball was able to beat his girlfriends. I can't think of too many woman who couldn't kick his a**.
He's got ghetto envy now, huh?
Beat his girlfriends? I must have missed that one...I thought he just fell off the face of the earth.
Wishful thinking. LOL
LOL!
Thank goodness! Can we dare to hope that America's last chart-topping hairmetal band will put out a new record after only a 13 year hiatus?
I never liked them, though they obviously had some musical talent. Only Jagger can be Jagger, not Axl, the guy from the Black Crows or anyone else.
Seeing as how neither band has put out a listenable record in 15 years, I'm sure they now have much in common.
LOL. I forgot about that episode.
Somehow, making music for 14 year olds seems better when you are in your 20s, not 40s.
Because when you look great you don't want photos to get out. Bad publicity for a rock singer to look great. Yeah.
He looked like death warmed over at 26
ping
Now he probably looks like Mr. Potatohead. (FAT!)
He was married [for a short time] to Don Everly's daughter. If he laid a hand on her donald would have whupped his @ss.
