DURHAM, N.C. - Duke underestimated the rape allegations against members of the lacrosse team in part because Durham police initially said the accuser “kept changing her story and was not credible,” according to a university report issued Monday.
The day after the March 13 team party where a 27-year-old black woman claimed she was raped, Durham police told campus officers that “this will blow over,” the report said. It said that the woman initially told police she was raped by 20 white men, then said she was attacked by three.

Duke lacrosse player Collin Finnerty is one of two men charged with first-degree forceable rape, first-degree sexual assault and kidnapping in the case involving an exotic dancer who allegedly was raped at a party thrown by members of the Duke Lacrosse team on March 13.

The report said Duke’s response was also limited by its lack of diversity in senior management; Brodhead and his core advisers are almost all white men.
The case may have been handled better “if a wide array of life histories and perspectives had been brought to bear on what were sensitive and highly charges issues,” the report said.

I thought he didn't have a runoff, that Nifong's plurality took that primary race.
I heard Stuart Taylor (liberal atty and pundit) on Bill Bennett's radio show yesterday and he said that the defense had exculpatory evidence on the defendants and that Nifong wouldn't even look at it.
The committee (led by a Civil Right's activist) says the response was bungled because too many White Males were involved (in Duke Leadership)
The Accuser should've been believed by the Police (Huh?)
The Race of the victim should've been conveyed to the Duke Leadership (ostensibly to ensure it would be handled Urgently - Rapes of White women - no need for Urgency)
Apparently the committee feels that in case where the victim is a black woman and the suspects are White men - there should be a rush to judgement. In most case similar committees advocate getting all the facts and carefully considering all evidence. NOT HERE - Believe her Immediately and take punitive action immediately based on the race of the victim.
Are these familiar with any of the principles this country was founded on?
I know we will see justice here. I know that if these boys are found guilty the woman will be prosecuted for filing false charges.

I pray that the real truth comes out. Don't know what that is, for sure, these days. I also hope that this deters future incidents like this, and maybve some of these fraternity groups and sports teams will think through the possible consequences before repeating this mistake.
