I'm not so sure this will just go away. Nifong is more or less committed to going forward with it, and the Grand Jury has indicted the three who were charged.

So, what are the chances it will be dropped without a trial? And what are the chances that there will be a fair trial?

Remember the McMartin child-molestation case in California, decades ago?

The prosecutors manipulated the kids so deftly that their imaginations went absolutely wild: eventually, they were claiming they were raped by scissors, that an evil doll had raped them, that they had donned robes, descended into a magic chamber where they were made to rip the wings off birds....

Counselors also withheld water from thristy kids in "interviews" (interrogations), and later permitted them to slake their thirst after they had given them what they were after.

Some of the minutes of these interrogations are either horrifying, or completely hilarious, it's hard to decide which.
