The Da Vinci Cod by Don Brine (Book Review)
Don Brine ( Adam Roberts) is a Professor of 19th Century Literature at London University , and author of The Da Vinci Cod : billed as a Fishy Parody NOT the #1 New York Times Bestseller."
On the back cover of the book there is a prominently displayed Fishclaimer : This book has not been authorized or endorsed by Dan Brown or his publishers, but it is much, much funnier.
Here is a short quote: But then it turned out that the Cunning Theory was Not So Cunning After All because it wasnt true. Not even remotely. Not even a tiny bit likely.Which is where this book comes in.
Because it turns out that although Leonardo Da Vinci didnt know anything at all about a holy bloodline extending to the present day,he knew a very great deal indeed about what cod really are,and that sinister knowledge is only now coming to light
In case there is any doubt , this book might be described as the perfect antidote to The Da Vinci Code.
The author uses (sometimes heavy-handed) humor that does more harm to The Da Vinci Code than all the Vatican protests or angry articles on Media religion pages could ever hope to accomplish.
Its well worth a trip to the library or bookstore !

They're really taking this thing to far!

I find it suspicious that cod had a different meaning in the Middle Ages.........

it almost sounds like the style of "hitchhikers guide". I was waiting for the Cod to have something about blaming humans for all tthe dolphins.

It's interesting that there was an overurchin theme that allowed a writer to take on such a crappie story. Or did he just do it for the halibut?

What a finny suggestion! Walleye think so, at least. It doesn't take a brain sturgeon to realize that there's so much humorous material available--but I won't carp on the point.

What about a parody of Michael Moore using the fish theme? You know, the story of President Bass and his ties to Halibuton, exposed by one brave, unshaven, camera toting fish named Mackerel Moore.
