I find it suspicious that cod had a different meaning in the Middle Ages.........

it almost sounds like the style of "hitchhikers guide". I was waiting for the Cod to have something about blaming humans for all tthe dolphins.

It's interesting that there was an overurchin theme that allowed a writer to take on such a crappie story. Or did he just do it for the halibut?

What a finny suggestion! Walleye think so, at least. It doesn't take a brain sturgeon to realize that there's so much humorous material available--but I won't carp on the point.
