...a possible sign that the odd behavior of Hollywood's biggest star may have taken a toll on his box-office charm. Gee, ya think? Also, "odd behavior"? My previous neighbor cutting his grass three times a day is "odd behavior". Understatement of the week.

I saw it for free on Friday night. Action-packed, tense, frenetic pace--about what you'd expect from JJ Abrams. A fun time at the theater.
Tom Cruise? Was he in the movie? Worst scene: when Tom struggled over telling his fiancee about his clandestine career. Extreme overacting.

I agree with the character assessment, yes. This one was done by JJ Abrams, of "Lost" and "Alias" fame, who has more of a touch for the human element than stright-up boom/crash/action.

I saw the movie and liked it (and J.J. Abrams) a lot, but Tom Cruise is a jackhole so this story is hilarious. He's too crazy for me to hate. I'll just mock him instead.

My boycott of all things Tom Cruise continues forward.

I think it is less about Tom and more reflective of the industry in general.
I think with prices going to the sky and a whole year of mostly cr@p in the movies, it hasn't been worth it to go out as much.
I also found that the quality of things on TV has gotten better recently.
We have "24", House, Lost, DHW, Grey's Anatomy and in the past Boston Legal before it slided way left.
DVDs are getting to the rental store much quicker and I find myself waiting to pay $1.50 to rent the movie rather than spend $14 per person to go out.
I do have a projector for movies that will play them all close to HD quality about 13 feet wide in the home, but even without that it's better home than in the crowd.

I also found that the quality of things on TV has gotten better recently.I'd have to agree, for the most part. 24, House and NCIS are actually decent shows from the broadcast networks without ramming a liberal slant down your throat. Throw in Monk and the new Battlestar Galactica on cable, and there's still hope for TV yet.
