The guy hacked into U.S. Government systems, he was unauthorized, his "reasons" don't matter, he committed the crime, now let him do the time: up to 60 years, just like the law provides for.
Now if he were a Kennedy, he might skate. But he isn't, so tough luck.

This is what happens when a government subsidizes the Barley Crop.
I do not have a problem believing lobbyists can supress anything, I have no problem believing Big Oil has the money to do so, and I do not have a probelm with the possibility that if there were ET visitors, it would ruin many cozy rackets.
But I DO have a BIG problem with a "Free Energy" story that appears when Oil crosses $70 a barrel.
This guy may have legal problems, but the only thing "Free" here is the pints he no doubt collects with the story in pub after pub.

Nasa has declined to comment about the allegations made by Gary McKinnon. Previously the US has described Mr McKinnon as a significant military hacker...Nasa told Click that it does not discuss computer security issues or legal matters. It denied it would ever manipulate images in order to deceive and said it had a policy of open and full disclosure, adding it had no direct evidence of extra-terrestrial life.

Gary McKinnon was arrested by the UK's national high-tech crime unit, after being accused of hacking into Nasa and the US military computer networks.
America now wants to put him on trial, and if tried there he could face 60 years behind bars. The only cover up he needs to worry about for the next 60 years is how to cover up his BUM from his cell-mate Bubba!
