If I remember correctly, Microsoft stopped offering Windows 98 updates on their site as of last year.

Late June, early July of this year.

"Windows Update" now requires IE6. However, patches for Win98/Win98SE may also be downloaded using any browser here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/downloads/corporate.asp
