Howdy,
I would expect the laptop should have a PCMCIA slot. with this slot and a PCMCIA credit card you could access the hospital local area network which would have a gateway out to the internet.
Failing that, you really need to upgrade the browser to IE6.0. Do this the same way with a PCMCIA card network adapter on YOUR network at home. On your cable modem you should have an ethernet connection that connects the modem to your home computer.
If you need more assistance/guidance, please feel free to freep me.

When I try to set up the "Connect to the Internet" on the laptop, it states I need an account. How the heck can I download NetZero if I can't get the laptop online? LOL Go online with your desktop and go to Juno.com. Download a copy of their software to open a free dialup account. Burn it to CD and install it on the laptop. Then you can hook up via dialup connection, create an account and off you go.
The free Juno has thousands of local access numbers you can dial in to and is free by nature of an ad banner that floats on your screen. You can easily move it around the screen and reposition it so it's not in your way.
If Juno.com doesn't have a free version for download anymore, I have a copy of the software at home and use it all the time. Freep mail me and I can provide you an ftp download link later tonight when I get home.
