Cat to Reunite With Owner After 10 Years
Wed May 3, 9:09 PM ET
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sneakers the cat is being reunited with his owner, hundreds of miles away from where the feline disappeared in 1996.
The long-haired black cat was given to Sacramento's Animal Care Services last week, where an employee scanned him for a microchip, a routine procedure.
The number on the chip was used to track down Allison MacEwan of Seattle, who said she placed newspaper ads and went door-to-door with fliers in a futile search for her lost cat a decade ago.
Officials on Wednesday said they aren't sure how the cat wound up in Sacramento.
MacEwan's daughter was 4 years old when her cat disappeared, and officials said she is now looking forward to being reunited with her childhood pet.
Poor thing. I wonder how/why she got so big before you got her?
The other (Molly) doesn't seem to have much interest in anything except food ... and getting scratches ... and food.
I know what you mean!I once had a vet from a veterinary school ask if he could use my cat family as a field trip for his students ... at that time we were dealing with diabetes, hyperthyroidism, skin cancer, kidney failure, and glaucoma.
Alas, all of those precious feline friends have now passed on ... we still miss each and every one of them.
I figure all the time and money I spend on kitty's geriatric medical conditions (and this is my second hard core geriatric case) will pay off a few decades down the road when I start coming down with all these things. By then, our nation's medical system will likely be in a state of near-total collapse, so I'll need to be self-reliant.
LOL I'm afraid I'm guilty. I have a Siamese mix named Smokey.
