Richard Petty is more iconic (100-watt smile and signature hat and shades).

But Dale personifies the expolosion in popularity of the sport. Even Bill France said that.

Well, no one accused the Askmen.com authors of having much knowledge about much.

Teddy Roosevelt Good choice.
In my book, TR represents perfectly the America of the first half of the 20th Century.
Bold, brash, intelligent, fearless and a little rough around the edges.
I think for his time, he was the ultimate American icon.

And for our time too. GWB shows flashes of Teddy from time to time.

GWB shows flashes of Teddy from time to time. Except for his perspectives on illegal aliens, health care, subsidies for failing industries...

All I can say is I wish Bush could run again in 08. Sure, there must be at least another 10-15 million future illegals who need amnesty.

Yeah, yeah. Go back and read what the preisdent's plan is. You are conflating it with McCains. But that's OK, so are a bunch of other "GWB is a liberal" freepers.

OK, even without a link, I will let you summrize it. But I will tell you in advance that any "guest worker" program that doesn't require the individuals to return to their country of origin is AMNESTY.

Bush's guest worker plan did require a return to country before they could apply for citizenship or reapply for guest worker status. I hope he ain't gonna change his tune. But I'm confident the letter I sent him will buck him up. ;o)
And I don't have a problem with "guest workers" as long as:
a) they go to the back of the line for citizenship applications
b) we build up a 10000% better system of fences/detectors/patrols to stop the bastards from coming in FIRST
c) we punish those companies hiring illegals

Bush's guest worker plan did require a return to country before they could apply for citizenship or reapply for guest worker status I think originally it was suppose to be that way. In fact, I may be wrong but I think he said this in one of his last 2 SOTU speeches. Since then, however, I think Bush has changed it to include the illegals already here. Atleast he's talking that way.
