The cost of gasoline & heating fuel really HITS hard on retinred people with limited income. It is just not the cost of the above BUT the cost of everything has also gone up, if you keep check at food markets you will suprise at the rising cost. I got a 4.1/2& cost of living raise in Jan.06 and ended up losing $40.00 a month from last year because of medical ins going up!!! BUT you note all the companies are making RECORD profits YET this country gives BILLIONS to other countries that would kill all of us if thay could.

How much did you save for retirement outside of Social Security and your company pension?

Funny, when Bush was saving people several hundred dollars in tax cuts liberals laugh because it was so little. Now liberals are making a few hundred dollars into a catastrophe. Please take your liberal butt somewhere else.

How did you post twice in 30 seconds and have "excellent point" italicized in one post and regular text in the other?
LOL. That's kind of neat.

I imagine he just used the back button and added the tag. You can add a tag in 30 seconds.

If you are retired, how many places do you need to drive? If you walk it is much better for you, you'll live longer.

Social Security is in FACT socialism.. not like like socialism, it IS socialism.. Any that defend SSI are socialists.. And most are in extreme denial about it..
The so-called Social Security Trust Fund was bled of any resources long long ago..
The democrats stole those funds not long after they started to be saved..
There IS NO trust fund.. it is PURE socialism..
Any defender is oblivious..

How much did you earn during those 12-14 years getting taxpayer money for that free education and lunches?
Maybe Retired people have a right to get payback for freebies the ungrateful yutes have taken from them. My kids were in public schools for 12 years, we have been paying taxes for education the last 50 years

I find it amazing how many socialists (small "s") there are on Free Republic.

Spoken like a true control freak socialist liberal. Maybe to alleviate the yute's inconvenience, they can mandate old people should be eliminated at a certain age? But with their "all about me" mindset, they will of course want that age extended when they get uncomfortably close to it.
