Accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann's attorneys want Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong thrown off the case.
Today, they filed a legal motion specifically asking for it.
"DA Mike Nifong neglected his duty as a prosecutor to seek the truth and a fair prosecution," the defense's motion reads.
The motions were filed just 24 hours before Nifong's Tuesday election in which he's fighting to keep his seat. Nifong is being challenged by former prosecutor Freda Black and private lawyer Keith Bishop
Detroit is just about the biggest toilet of a city the U.S. has to offer. It's as bad as D.C., but at least D.C. has some nice buildings, monuments, interesting sights and museums. Detroit is just...Detroit.
Well said, snarky.
Nifong was probably afraid to take questions about the case from Greta. Nothing can shut him up when it's the usual simple-minded reporter asking the questions.
No parents in their right mind, especially if they have any wealth, would send their kid to Duke after this. He or she would just be a target - especially a "he."
Let Durham go on record as the city that couldn't handle having a fine university in its midst. Instead of embracing it, the townspeople (and the president of Duke) shat all over it.
Way to go, Durham.
That's my take. I think it's the presence of NCCU that creates the malice toward Duke. I don't think there'd be nearly the animosity toward Duke and its students if it weren't for NCCU being there.
I tend to agree, but alot depends on the makeup of the bar.
Stanford is still a good school, and it's fairly warm there all year around.
Typical Dem.

Bennett and his people need to do an extensive investigation of Nifong - the works - and get him disbarred. The only other possibility is a recall movement, but that probably can't be undertaken until he's actually sitting in the office he's been elected to, which won't be for eight months, if NC law even has a provision for recall, and probably wouldn't be successful.
Which attorney? Which player? Is it an attorney for Seligmann or Finnerty, or was it one of the attorneys who represented one or more of the non-indicted players before the GJ hearing?
The reason that happened is because Gil Garcetti moved the case to South Central L.A. instead of leaving it in the jurisdiction where it occurred, which was Brentwood. That case was doomed from the start. None of the evidence mattered. I agree the same thing will likely happen if this case is tried in Durham.
A complete dismissal and change of venue should be the sole focus of defense counsel at this time.
That won't matter if this case goes to trial and Durham is the venue.
She does. Several.
Agreed.
WHICH attorney hugged Nifong????
At one point, OJ said he cut his hand on his cell phone. i think that was his first excuse.
She obviously went back inside to get something - Mangum's money, no doubt.
