Accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann's attorneys want Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong thrown off the case.
Today, they filed a legal motion specifically asking for it.
"DA Mike Nifong neglected his duty as a prosecutor to seek the truth and a fair prosecution," the defense's motion reads.
The motions were filed just 24 hours before Nifong's Tuesday election in which he's fighting to keep his seat. Nifong is being challenged by former prosecutor Freda Black and private lawyer Keith Bishop
Chads, chads, are there any hangng chads?
870 difference
It's the talk of WRAL's 256!
Maybe it is not a bad thing. It's time for Nifong to put up or shut up and we will see haw traffic court has prepared him for this.
Has he really tried 300 homicide cases? Wonder what his win/loss record is.
I would like to think those people over in Durham are more like 'hanging CADS!'
I am in the Piedmont part of NC--Mecklenburg County--Here all are voting is done on nifty touch screens with an automatic paper printout--both done simultaneously. The Board of Elections then has both the electronic copy and the hard copy.
LOL! Those people are raving killers over in the RDU area. He has tried in excess of 300 TRAFFIC cases.
Personally, I'd prefer that he shut up. I suppose he could have been around long enough to try that many homicide cases. I would suspect that a lot of those were plea bargained though.
When this is over I will be happy to see ms. grace-less sued!
If I had a child who was a student at Duke, I'd be looking to get that child somewhere else far away from the city of Durham. I know there are many good people there, but a city that can exercise this kind of collective horrible judgment is basically Sodom (or is it Gomorrhah?)
I'd pay $$ to see her sued by these players. Good reminder!
I agree.
The only thing I can take some solace in is the fact that this was one of the lowest turnout in Durham's history.
All I can think of is the people there are apathetic about this case now, due to the media saturation.
Duke students have very little contact with the residents of Durham, unless it is tutoring their students or spending $ in their businesses. Have you ever been to Durham? It is neither Sodom nor Gomorrhah. It has areas that are poor and suffer the same problems that can be found in any city anywhere. They did not welcome the NBPP with open arms. I have found the black people in Durham to have much less "attitude" than the blacks here in CA. IMHO, you are just as bad as Nifong in condeming a whole city without evidence.
Oh, okay. I'm just as bad as Nifong then.

How 'white guilt' in turn forced blacks to accept the role of "angry victim"; and once those two roles ('guilty white' and 'angry vicitm') were frozen as defining the relationship between the races, further progress was rendered impossible.
Looks like the visit by Shazam and his 'goddess worshipping goons' did the trick and brought out enough votes to reward the DA for his racist witch hunt.
Thanks for the recommendation.
Nifong to remain Durhams DA
DURHAM - District Attorney Mike Nifong kept his job as the countys top prosecutor in a heated election that featured Nifongs handling of the Duke lacrosse rape investigation as its central issue.
Nifong received 45.17 percent of the vote, enough to avoid a runoff. He beat former prosecutor Freda Black, who had 41.53 percent and lawyer Keith Bishop, who earned 13.3 percent.

Glad you agree with me! :)
However, don't blame those who, like JustaCowgirl, have never been to Durham; blame the citizens of Durham for electing an out-of-control prosecutor.
