Accused Duke lacrosse player Reade Seligmann's attorneys want Durham County District Attorney Mike Nifong thrown off the case.
Today, they filed a legal motion specifically asking for it.
"DA Mike Nifong neglected his duty as a prosecutor to seek the truth and a fair prosecution," the defense's motion reads.
The motions were filed just 24 hours before Nifong's Tuesday election in which he's fighting to keep his seat. Nifong is being challenged by former prosecutor Freda Black and private lawyer Keith Bishop

The Black Panthers say that Nifong shared prosecution evidence with them in the case against the Lacrosse players. (I doubt it, but that's the story).

I did hear a Black Panther on Sean's radio show today say just that.....but, I didn't catch his name or listen to thw whole show.....
Much as I think Nifong is incompetent, he can't be so bad he'd share info with the BP. If he did, he needs to be disbarred immediately.
One thing about the car color which I may have missed but I haven't read/heard--dark(er)/night lighting comes into play, and a car of a certain color can be mistaken for another shade altogether.
A record low turnout.

I guess the people of Durham are not as passionate about this case as others outside the city.
Surely even Nifong is not that stupid, but his opponents brought the NBPs in to assure Nifong's defeat?
I think he may have done just that....he sounds like he'd do anything to win tonight....but that's jmho
I hope he did share information about the case and evidence with the Black Panthers. I think the defense will get him disbarred for it.

Remembering this is a DA race, let's see:
1. Nifong is awful.
2. The African-American candidate has a bit of a rap sheet.
3. The woman candidate was a sex crime prosecution specialist.
Now I would tend to vote for the woman myself, but is she a another Wendy Murphy? If that is the case, the people of Durham might care a lot but feel it is useless to vote for any of these candidates. Maybe many in Durham are putting out for sale signs and looking at property in Orange Co.?
You can bet the defense team is already looking into that....
I hope the defense team is sleeping a whole lot better than Nifong. Although even with all the good news on their side, knowing their clients could get a biased jury and life in prison is a heavy burden.
