Baltimore beat the Steelers once last year and the Steelers beat them once by one point. And that was without Ray Lewis in at least the second game.
I also look for Baltimore to be much improved this year.

Yeah, I'm a Steelers fan since 1960. Endured a lot of hopeless, losing teams. Gene "The Toe" Mingo (kicker) and all the rest. Weren't many bright spots back in the old days.
Bradshaw's first year, 1-13. Then it turned around, became mediocre again and finally turned around again.
Lots of ups and downs, but more downs over the years than ups.
But I got to watch the Steel Curtain crush people and that was a lot of fun. One of the best "D"'s to ever play the game, along with the old Packers, the Fearsome Foursome of the Rams and the Dallas "Doomsday" defense. And the Vikings Purple People Eaters.
Its been a lot of fun.

IT was a SUPERLATIVE DRAFT!!!!!Want to know why.....(yes I am legally MORE than drunk now) the Stillers had a superior draft.......well (as a drunk writes.....)
Here's the SCOOP............... Big Ben got his wish in the later rounds ................ receivers that run like the wind!
Next year....................... we will have a great QB throwing the ball down field to a number of SPEED MERCHANTS who can go run under the ball!!!!!
One more ring!

I have old football cards from the 1950's and 1960's in my attic. I'll pull them out and see if I can find any old Steeler's and post their pic's.
I'll look forward to the NFL thread's come football season, maybe we can talk about the Blitzburg vs Raven's games as they happen. I'll be nice. lol

We'll have a lot of fun this season, for sure.
I had tons of football cards and baseball cards in the attic when I was in the Air Force and my mother threw them all away. Shoeboxes full. Used to cost 1 cent per card and every card had a good piece of bubblegum in it.
For 5 cents you got about six cards and a piece of gum but half the 5 cent packs had team cards in them.

Oh those receivers look good to me too. They needed them and drafted their needs well, I thought.
Hey, I'm having a nip too. Some real nice wine. Nice and cheap.
Steelers will be tough again this year, maybe even tougher than last year.

I work with a guy older than me. He had an entire collection of Superman comics from the 1950's he bought at the local store one issue at a time for years. He had more of these comics he collected from other comics as well.
He grew up, got married, and left the cards in his mothers attic. She threw them out, she thought they were nothing more than old childrens toys. He told me that had great value and gets mad every time he thinks about it.
I took mine with me! lol

Which wasn't easy because my wife throws out everything that isn't nail down. She'll say, do you need that? and I'll say YES! leave it alone!
She'll grumble and walk away but I have to keep an eye on things. lol

Comic books. Mine got thrown away along with the baseball and football cards.
I had the original Fantastic Four from issue one, all the 25 cent and 12 cent issues. Classics Illustrated. Tarzan. Sgt. Fury and the Howling Commandos. The Incredible Hulk. Batman and Superman. Many more. I had big cardboard boxes full of them. Thousands of dollars worth in the market.
Fortunes got thrown away.
I also get mad every time I think about it. LOL!

Next year....................... we will have a great QB throwing the ball down field to a number of SPEED MERCHANTS who can go run under the ball!!!!! For all the talk of Ben's "big arm" he really can't throw the deep ball very well. When's the last time you saw him overthrow someone downfield?
Ben habitually underthrows deep passes. I don't know if it's his arm strength or if he's afraid to overthrow. That's why the best deep pass all year was thrown by Randle El in the Super Bowl.

It could have helped you financially.
Some of them go for big big bucks.
Just imagine if you had saved a stack of Mickey Mantle's, the ones that go for over $35,000 dollars, you would be on easy street today for the cost of pennies.
I can't tell you how many cards I put between the spokes of my bicycle.

I had tons of football cards ... and my mother threw them all away. I did as well, my dad threw them away. Something like 16,700 of them mostly from the 70s and 80s(I remember because I used to write the number on the box of how many there were). Among them were Jim Brown's rookie card, O.J. Simpson's rookie card, Walter Payton's rookie card, stacks of Steelers, stacks of star players from back in the day, Staubach, Dorsett, Deacon Jones...
When I think of the value of them now.... sometimes I bring it up over holiday dinners. Even at a dollar each... sigh...

I had Roger Marris and Roberto Clemente and Warren Spahn and Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays and Hank Aaron and many others.
Had all the football players like Elroy Hersh (Crazylegs) from the about 56 to the about 65 or so.
We used to do the card on the spokes trick too.
We used to flip each other for cards. It there was a tie the pot continued to grow until one guy got heads and everyone else got tails.
Much simpler times.

WOW, nice collection, I'll bet you're wishing you could do some time travel in order to save them.
I had a Clemente, I was cheated out of it by a so-called friend. Not knowing much back then, too young, I got a nice Earl Morral card in trade for it.
We did the card games and such, but instead of using the stars, we used guys like Roger Metzger and Oscar Gamble, and never flipped our star players. Even then we had some idea of their worth.
...and still they were simpler times.

Let's make it simple. I really don't know much of all these "hotshots" who were drafted.
But ............... my old buddies who are ex-Stillers say............. this is going to be beautiful watching Ben throw the ball DOWN FIELD to these new guys.
I really don't know the specifics............. but what I DO KNOW.......... is that the Steelers are nearly always correct on their picks in the draft.
Looks like a winner to me..............

I figure my mother threw hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of sports cards and comic books away. After I told her repeatedly not to touch any of my stuff while I was gone.
To make things worse, it was all in the attic bothering no one. Except her. Wasn't her stuff and she wanted to "clean up" and "make room".
Get me a time machine...
