In the coming years, citizens may choose to not associate with people who lack a TiVO in their homes. We will no longer be able to cope with the negativity and victim-hood displayed by those who are not in control of their viewing habits. We will treat them like drug addicts and the morbidly obese. As we walk down the streets, if we see someone who obviously does not have a TiVO coming our way, we will cross to the other side of the street.

What is this TiVo you speak of? Seriously, I've wondered if when you TiVo something you can actually put it on DVD. Can you do that, or do you need an actual DVD recorder?

You have to have a DVD player/recorder to transfer Tivo programs. You can also transfer them to a VCR (if you own such an archaic device)

We're lucky we have fair warning about this 20 minute delay.
What I hate is NBC and ABC who like to shift television shows by 1 minute either way to make you miss the beginning of competing shows.
For example, NBC makes Deal or No Deal run from 7:00PM to 8:01PM CT. If I'm not careful about how I setup the Tivo, I miss the beginning of 24 at 8:00PM CT.

My friends have rules of Tivo ettiquette.
Whereas we recognize that Tivo allows people to miss shows broadcast live, for high interest shows like 24, we guarantee each other no more than 36 hours to get caught up.
We figure that if you haven't watched 24 by Wednesday morning, you are not a real 24 fan so any spoilers you hear because you got behind are not our fault.

That's more a problem with TiVO than the networks.
The problem with TiVO is you can only record what you are presently watching.
With DVR you can record one program and watch another so the two never conflict.

Are you smoking something? You do realize that Tivo is a KIND of DVR, right?
You have a dual-tuner model which allows you to work around this problem. However, many people have the single tuner model for whom such issues are very relevant.

With DVR you can record one program and watch another so the two never conflict. With my DVR, you can record two shows at the same time, and watch a third..and here I thought I had a dinosaur dvr.
I think my DVR is an electricity hog because it is on 24/7. The upside of that is that you can turn on the television, and go back an hour for two channels at any given time..I just haven't figured out how it decides which two channels.
