Sissyjane, I believe that the second house search and sealwas the e-mail of Ryan McFadyen.

Wednesday, April 5, 2006

Duke University’s president canceled the men’s lacrosse team’s season and accepted the resignation of its coach today, hours after Durham County authorities disclosed an e-mail message written by a team member saying he planned to invite strippers to his dorm room, kill them and cut off their skin.

The e-mail message was sent shortly after a party three weeks ago at which a woman has said she was raped by three members of the team. The message was disclosed this morning when the authorities unsealed a search warrant that was executed March 27 on the student’s dormitory room and vehicle.

“The court released today a previously sealed warrant, whose contents are sickening and repulsive,” Richard H. Brodhead, Duke’s president, said in a statement. “I have canceled the men’s lacrosse season and all associated activities, effective immediately. Lacrosse Coach Mike Pressler has submitted his resignation to Athletic Director Joe Alleva, effective immediately.”

The e-mail message was sent March 14 at 1:58 a.m., 36 minutes after a grocery store security guard called 911 to summon the police because the woman appeared intoxicated and refused to get out of a car. When the police arrived, the woman told them she had been raped and assaulted. The accuser was one of two women hired to dance at the party.

That seems to explain things, the second sealed warrant was the McFadyen dorm room search.

The three team captains who lived in the house cooperated with police when it was searched March 16. Subsequent search warrants were sealed at the Police Department's request.

Protest

This is an early article concerning the case so the reporter might have been confused whether a single "warrant" or "warrants" were sealed.
