What's interesting is that Roberts called the guys "dumbasses." My sense of this case lately, since we've been hearing from Kim, is that Kim viewed the players as naive, young white chumps that she could bully and threaten into paying up. And now that she surreally states that she wondered if the other dancer was holding out on her, it makes me wonder all the more if she checked Mangum's purse after the guys put her in the car and, finding no payment, went back to try to threaten and bully them into paying which makes me think Kim very well may have drugged Mangum when they were in the bathroom with the intention of robbing Mangum.

One thing is sure - Nifong will rue the day he signed off on Kim's bond deal because he would have been better off with her in jail instead of out talking to anybody with a camera and anybody who will listen.

I should think the defense lawyers could get an expedited subpoena to query the lab as to why the delay and if they were instructed to not return the results until a certain date.

This really stinks, and further contributes to the strong impression that these guys are being railroaded.

A rather ugly thought just occurred to me: I wonder if Nifong WANTS to give the impression that he's railroading these rich white guys because he thinks that will get him the black vote - appreciation for railroading rich white Dukies.

Yeah, unless the conclusion is a match to lax player, it's "inconclusive".

Howdy! We were gone most of the weekend, so I've gotten far behind on the board and the case, although I did catch the shows earlier.

Nifong's involvement and handling of this case grows more suspicious with each passing day.

It's relly good to see you, too! :)

Yours provided a superb insight. Thank you. Very thoughtful.

I am a little surprised to see myself so furiously offended at a slight against Durham

Not really so surprising, LK44-40. It was your home, at some point. And your old "home" was dragged down in the mud by bad elements. I feel the same way about Marin County, CA, which produced Barbara Boxer and Taliban Johny Lind.

Before liberalism, Marin was a wonderful, patriotic place. I loved everything about it, and before the "all ways are my ways" types creeped in, incrementally, and changed the place.

When liberalism was advanced upon Marin, I saw an astounding amount of pain and suffering which hadn't been there previous. The only thing which keeps Marin safe from becoming Durham is "money". Marin is one huge gated community. Pretty much says it for most of the areas North of San Francisco.

And I also hear you saying that Durham had its warts even "back then"; but it was your home.

It tries the patience of sense of justice to watch criminals surpassing and taking over the good, in areas of the country. No doubts, you can hear the silence of the lambs (so to speak); of good people in Durham crying and praying in their hearts and thoughts.

Kim Roberts claims she didn't go back into the house. Mangum claims she did, and that they were immediately separated, at least in her original rendition.

Bissey puts them entering the house the first time at 11:55-12:00. Allowing for clocks and watches to differ from one another by a minute or two, Kim's and Bissey's initial accounts square with the photos and the claim that the dance lasted about 5 minutes. They would have needed a few minutes to get ready, get their music going and such, so a total of ten minutes from 11:55 to 12:05 makes sense. Also, there doesn't seem to be a point in that time frame for Mangum to have guzzled down both her and Kim's drink. Bissey said they came out a while later -enough time for him to have taken a shower and gotten dressed again- before more commotion started up outside again. This was when he heard one guy trying to get them to come back inside and the guys on the side of the house talking about getting their money back. Bissey originally said that both women went back into the house, and heard the remark about the shoe. If the guys are telling the truth that at some point they locked themselves in the bathroom, the question is was that before or after they came back in.

I think they went back in BEFORE they locked themselves in the bathroom, money was taken back from them, they locked themselves in the bathroom, money was slipped under the door to them to get them to leave, they leave, Mangum still doesn't have her shoe, Kim gets in the car, Mangum is on the porch, tries to get into the house, isn't let in or is and whatever money she got from being slipped under the bathroom door is taken from her, hangs around whining to get in, falls down the steps, gets put in the car, Mangum's purse and/or money is gone, Kim goes back to try to bully the guys into giving her Mangum's money for her or she'll make trouble, they tell her to hit the road, she leaves yelling stuff back at them, they're all outside by this time, the cabbie pulls up at about 12:45 and sees Kim coming from the side of the house and get into her car, and everyone drives off or walks off within a minute or two, Kim calls the cops, and everyone is gone when the cops arrive.

For all the times that Bissey has called the cops on these guys, you would think he would have called that night also, what with all the commotion and yelling.

It's too bad he didn't.

No, it came from Mangum and Bissey.

Kim originally stated she did not go back inside and that she left altogether on her own. That was clearly a lie, at least the second part of it is. Bissey said BOTH women went back in. So, I think Kim did go back in, and they were not separated. Rather than having to attest one way or another as to whether a rape occurred, Kim removes herself from the scene. In so doing, she has to deny they were in the bathroom toegther, yet like a dumbass she vehemently states no money was pushed under the door. So, I have concluded that she did go back in and knows there was no rape because she was clearly in the bathroom, a stupid admission made while shooting her mouth off about no money under the door when sitting as the center of attention for some press conference a few weeks ago.

Mostafa has already said he was wrong about that time frame and that he got the call to go back to the house for another fare at 12:29. He must have arrived back there between 12:45 and 12:50. From what others have said, it would take about four minutes for him to get back to Buchanan from the vicinity of where he dropped Reade who opened the dorm with his key card at at 12:46. We don't know if Reade stood outside for a minute or two to talk or make another phone call, nor how long it would take to walk to his dorm from where Mostafa dropped him off. Let's say he dropped Reade at 12:43, got back to Buchanan at 12:47, saw Kim and heard her yelling to the guys outside about calling the cops, picked up the fare, and took off. Six minutes later Kim calls 9-1-1 and the cops arrive two to three minutes later. Bissey said after the yelling and the cotton shirt remark, the cops showed up a short time later. If nine minutes equals a "short time" in Bissey's mind as it does in mine, it all makes sense.

I don't think they were separated. I think Kim did go back inside, just as Bissey said. The only one who said Kim didn't go back inside is Kim (and Nifong). Mangum and Bissey said they both went back inside. But Kim also said there was no locking themselves in the bathroom, but then she shot her mouth off and said she saw no money being slipped under the bathroom door - didn't happen. How could she know that unless she was in the bathroom herself?

The major point is whether they both returned to the house. Bissey originally said they did, and so did Mangum. Kim originally said she left altogether and didn't know anything about what went on after that point, which is clearly a lie.

I agree. It would be foolish to release anything more than necessary because it only helps Mangum further her lies and Nifong manipulate the case and the evidence.

I heard Kim say that. i think she was just projecting her own motives and actions onto Mangum to steer the suspicion away from her. Kim has been driving this case from the beginning, not because she wanted to smear these guys but for financial reasons. I believe she viewed them as a bunch of dumb, young, white chumps that she could bully into paying her for doing nothing. I think she manipulated an argument right from the git-go just to get paid and get gone. I also strongly suspect she intended to rob Mangum, that Kim had a pre-drugged bottle of booze in her tote bag to use on Mangum. I suspect her plan was to start an argument early enough on to get Mangum drugged and then get them out of there in plenty of time prior to Mangum's ride coming back for her in two hours.

Sound familiar?

That's correct, and that change came about 1:40. They went to Duke Access, were there about forty minutes, and then that changed to the rape issue, and they packed it in and went on to DUMC.

At this point, the only person I think should get a mental evaluation is Nifong.

OOPS! I seem to have gotten off-thread. There was a link to this thread from the other main thread to demonstrate some point that somebody or other was trying to make, and I seem to have gotten myself stuck here in error, not noticing the dates of the posts, instead of getting back to today's thread.

Sorry.
