OK, GUYS, LET'S S ROLL!!
I thought Maybe a good way to begin tonight's discussions would be for us to share about some of the best pranks and jokes that we either played on someone,(or someone played on us) when we were younger(or nowadays, for that matter)
Also, we could share about some of the crazy things we used to do, when we were younger(or perhaps still do) that were seen as fun at the time, but look foolhardy to us today.
I'll start things off, and share about one thing I did about 20 years or so ago, when I was 18-19. I would go on little "scenic routes" as I used to call them. (keep in mind that in 1986-87 gas was WAY less than $1.00 a gallon). Now, I did not just drive around aimlessly, but I had a friend named Paul with me. And Paul was a LOT more daring than I!! while I drove, Paul tossed bottles, cans, eggs and fireworks out of the car, mainly at road signs, but also at a few mailboxes. I egged him on, and thought it was a LOT of fun!! Paul conned me into believing that I was not doing anything wrong, since I was "just driving". (I just have to chalk that up to youthful stupidity...) In reality, I would had been the ONLY one to get into trouble had we been caught, because PAUL WAS ON HOUSE ARREST at the time, for a B&E that he and some others had been involved in , AND he was only 17!! SO, had we gotten caught,(and in early '87 we ALMOST did!!) I would had gotten the book thrown at me, for vandalism, littering, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and who knows what else!!
I'll reserve the stories about me messing with gunpowder, acid, gasoline, lighter fluid and fireworks for another time!!! (He....He... He..)
SO... Does anyone else care to share anything(that the statue of limitations has expired on !!) LOL!!

I am a true Conservative and am very pro-Republicans being Conservative.Well said. We've had a Republican president AND a Republican majority in congress for a long time now. One has to ask why we find ourselves in the sad state we're in right now.

I would describe myself as a Republican first and a conservative second. I don't agree with every conservative position. And as much as I hate McCain, being conservative is not necessarily a requirement for being a Republican. McCain is more conservative than Giuliani but Rudy's usually not described as a RINO.

**I am a true Conservative**
Then I guess I'm not a "true" conservative. I have issues with a few conservative positions. And there are a few things I haven't decided yet.

Being conservative is not necessarily a requirement for being a Republican.Yeah...you can say THAT again.
Republican is a party. Conservatism is a principle of thinking. Republicanism is SUPPOSED to be based on the ideas of conservatism. I'm not sure why anyone would be party-loyal as opposed to being loyal to principles.
There are divides of issues within the Republican party that go against conservatism, but they aren't consistent. There isn't a concentrated group that claims to be for one issue or against another that goes outside conservative thought. One Republican in office will be against one issue. Another one will be against an entirely different issue. There's no consistency there.

One of the values of this site is the opportunity to debate similar and dissimilar points of view and fine-tune our thought processes. It is hard work--and sometimes it can be difficult to keep feelings separate from opinions.
When I have difficulty with a position or issue, I personally try to refer back to the Ten Commandments. When I have difficulty with a person, I try to refer back to I Corinthians 13.
Yet 'iron sharpens iron,' as it says in the Book of Proverbs.
Cheers.

I am loyal to MY principles. Those do not always fall in the conservative category. Most of the time they do but I do not have a problem with going against conservatives when I believe they're wrong.

Of course not. I just objected to the blanket criticism of Republicans. There wasn't anything specific he was objecting to, it was just a bash-Republicans statement.

No, he WAS objecting to something specific. It was Republicans vs. Dems on handling of the war on terror, remember?
REPUBLICANS--
Hem and haw and talk tough, at least for a while.
Apparently this is a real problem he's concerned about. Talking tough but not actually doing anything. Personally, I think it would be laughable to say that the Republican party is beyond criticism when it comes to handling of foreign policy.
But at least that one sounds better than his portrayal of Democrats:
DEMOCRATS--
Surrender right from the get-go, because they don't want to get those mean people mad at us or anything....

I'm here. Not for long. I'm *hoping* to go to bed soon...but I have to admit...I am a little worried about hubby tonight. He went on a road trip with our landlord and called me a couple hours ago to tell me that they broke down and are about 2 hours away. (They were headed home.) I haven't heard from him since and he hasn't been answering his cell.
I hope everything is ok!!!!!! (EEEEEKKKKK!!!!)
To: Maximus_Ridiculousness

I think I'm gonna hang here just a little bit longer (only if you are).
I'm growing more worried as each hour passes. He called me from some podunk town saying they were getting some tools to work on the tranny (it has a serious leak.) I haven't heard from him for three hours now (I checked my call history on my cell) and he is not answering his cell.
To: Maximus_Ridiculousness
400!
I'm afraid I'm going to have to get going (it's pretty late here). I'll keep your husband in prayers. How worried you must be! Hope he turns out okay!
