I remember once in nursing school, a ruby-throated hummingbird hit the window of the dorm, knocked it out and I ran out and got it and held it for a while, gently rubbing it with my fingertip...eventually it recovered it's wits, sat perched in my hand for a bit and flew off! My dorm-mates were astounded and everyone said it was a sign that I was supposed to be a nurse!
Maybe I shoulda been a vet instead.
It's not too late. Because of nursing school, you would have had some of the required courses already, anyway! Being a vet would sure help you with the animal husbandry on your little plot of land. ;o)
