Hi Hair,

One of my friends just returned from a two-week trip to New Zealand. Her pictures are beautiful. She actually got to see some of the places where LotR was filmed. The sad thing is that they took down the sets. She even visited the Shire, and the holes are there, but the doors are gone. The Hobbit Holes are just concrete bunkers now. That is so sad to me, but at least this Hobbit Hole is still nice and warm and cozy.

Yeah, New Zealand could made a bundle by creating a place that's kinda like Hobbiton and Rivendell. So many fans want to travel there to see the sights.

Our #1 son went to Australia and New Zealand with friends over the Christmas vacation. He said he thought he saw the mountains that appear in some of the scenes, specifically those when the folks are moving to Helm's Deep in TTT.

I sure wish they had left some of the sets behind for fans to enjoy.

~sigh~
