The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Well, that is part of why people tan... if you can get a tan, then you don't burn so much :~D

How was VV?

It was a long and tedious ordeal. I really hate trying stuff on...but I hate the guilt of having stuff that doesn't fit and that I paid decent money for even more.

Got three measly tops, none of which I absolutely love. I'm still in mourning for the dead shirt, which doesn't help. Also I'm convinced that I really gotta eat better and stuff. *sigh* I really hate those durn mirrors.

And now it's dripping slightly, which means it's likely too wet to mow agin. Ungh.

It's stopped now...but I guess the grass is probably wet. I'll hafta check.

Kind of a downer of a day, yeah. I'm too easily downed, I suppose.

Heh...some days I wish I could join him in that state of mind. ;-)

He's really happy because I'm about to walk outside and check things over, and that's just soooooo exciting.

Dumb dog...

I sure love him.

The frog has been captured - thanks to the unwavering bravery of my sister, Kelly. Yippee!

Here is the nasty intruder. A Cuban treefrog - an invasive species, no less. Clickee the pickee...

Mash here to hear his "song". *shudder*

He's just here to eat the bugs native bugs won't eat.

That's why they make sunscreen...

I'm sorry. I just really don't get the point.

Sounded right to me! :-)

I'm at my sister's house now. Wanted to get a bunch of stuff done but everywhere I went, there was a huge line. Bah!

I'll do it all tomorrow.

Right now, we're trying to peel my sister's boyfriend off of the TV (World Cup) so we can find a movie to watch.

How long does it take to get tanned in a salon?

Dunno....tanning salons sound like skin cancer to me. :)

I guess I'm finished with garden stuff today. I probably should cut some grass but I'd rather kick back and eat ice cream instead.

I pulled some of the turnips and some of the collards. Don't think I have enough room in there to plant more beans.

Yeah...that's the other reason I don't get it. Isn't *any* kinda tan technically skin damage?

Well...got half the front mowed and stopped for a drink and some fruit...time to finish the other half.

I should get the weed whacker and get the area around my garden...it's all shaggy.

I picked some lettuce the other day - have that mixed stuff...what's it called? Begins with an "m". Mesclun or something. And I can start using some of my herbs pretty soon.

The bean plants are up, but still tiny. And my 'mater plants are covered in flowers, but that's as far as they've gotten so far.

Since it protects you from other damage I don't think it really counts as damage. Plus the extra vitamin D is good for ya.

I've been getting turnips and collard greens. As far as herbs go, I've been harvesting rosemary, chives, and some basil now and then (love fresh basil in salads!) The bunnies kept mowing down the lettuce until it started bolting, but I've got some arugula up that they don't seem to like.

My 'maters have some impressive foliage and I've got some tomatoes coming! The largest is around 2" long and green (the plum tomatoes are coming in first.)
