Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Sure, that sounds good :~)
Want me to be ready right when you get home, or a little later?
To: HairOfTheDog
Well, I'll want to change out of my work clothes first. How bout if we plan on heading out around 5:30?

Evenin'. The visit w/ Mom continues. Evenings with us, days with my brother-n-fam. SIL was much less ratty today and I'm pleased.

Well good :~)
That makes life easier!
To: HairOfTheDog
Well.... less ratty is still ratty. That girl has a nack for making my Mom feel worthless and unwelcome. It's getting to the point where Mom *dreads* visits out here. That is unacceptable to me because she is essentially alone back in AZ and needs these visits to see her kids and grandkids. Grrrr.
But in other news, I'm taking leave tomorrow. Mom and I are going to go pick strawberries at a nearby farm either tomorrow morning or Saturday. We're also going to go pick up a ceiling fan we've had on order.

Gosh, I'm sorry about that. I just don't understand wanting to treat family that way, and can't imagine, even if I had the desire, having the moxie to be outwardly mean or rude to ecurbh's parents. I just don't get it.
You have a good time on your time with her.
To: HairOfTheDog
even if I had the desire, having the moxie to be outwardly mean or rude to ecurbh's parents. Well...there is that little matter with the workshop...

I believe her when she says she doesn't *mean* to upset anyone. Truly. I think she is just obliviously selfish. "I want..." "I want..." "I want...." Urgh.

Let's just say that when I'm in an all day meetin' and nobody, I mean
nobody busts out with the newz about al-Zarqawi, I must be hangin' around the wrong people.
As if we didn't already know that...

Grapes/garden question.
I've got bunches (no pun intended) of grapes. They're about the size of chickpeas right now. Is it too soon to cover them with the cheesecloth to keep the birds off? Or should I go ahead and do that.

Well nobody mentioned it today but I only really spoke to three people at work... hehehe, I broke the news to my parents as we were all waking up and they cheered.

Umm...are they still hard?
We never had problems with birds eating our grapes (scuppernong and one brave concord.)

Yeah, they're still small and green. Think I'd be okay just to leave 'em? I keep the bird feeders pretty well stocked. Although they typically eat all the nandina berries.

Yeah, I think it's okay to leave them. I guess if you see the birds start going after them, it's time to cover them up!

I thought about putting some shiny flashy things down there on the trellis. Like some pinwheels or something. Maybe I'll just try that.
So far, no Japanese beetles this year.
God bless Sevin.

some shiny flashy thingsAOL Cd's, perhaps? A bit early for the beetles, though. Methinks they're going to be awful this year.
