The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I get a lot of satisfaction from looking back after mowing... and turning the sprinkler on it and admiring it while I have a cold water and a smoke. :~D

I looked at him and said "Can you see if you can wait until it PERKS?"

Ha! Well done, Master Dwarf.

I still need to overseed...or something. I've never really had a lawn before, so I dunno how to deal with all the weedy parts.

Still looks far better than it did, though a bit piebald in places. ;-) Thenewgrass is totally different from what was here.

It'll thicken up, if you water, maybe fertilize and mow it frequently. It's getting late now to seed because it'd be hard to keep wet.

You can weed and feed if you want, but you'd have to keep Cisco off it for several days, using temp fence maybe. I tend to live with weeds because of the pets, they all look green when they're short. :~D

It'd be a nightmare trying to do all of it with Cisco around. Guess I just keep mowing and hope for the best. ;-) But it's thicker than it was...maybe mowing is helping.

Yawn...

Morning all. I have got to start getting to bed later but apparently everyone else is fine on six hours' sleep and it's hard to go to bed when everyone else is sitting around talking. Oh well.

Two days to the weekend. I'm looking forward to it already.

Yup good news indeed! "Hey, we just made this fabulous crater and look who we found at the bottom of it! By gum!"

I'm just trying to find some new on which branch made the crater. USAF? Regardless it is a splendid collaboration of intel and metal.

Yep, I'm already planning the pies! I'm gonna make Steve a pumpkin sugar-free cheesecake and then two regular pumpkin pies, one for the jedis and one for Steve to take to work.

Wooohooo!

A pumpkin pie to celebrate the death of a bad guy!

Yep, he's really itty bitty, but think how little he was two weeks ago when he showed up! He was so tiny!

Last night he was *running* around in the garden, just running! We were sitting and watching and he was just cavorting around and at one point he stopped within 2 feet of Steve and sat there eating an old lettuce plant, He'd stand up on his back legs and scratch his belly! It was just amazing, he acted completely at ease.

Steve just laughed and said "That bunny has chutzpah!"
