The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Me, too:

Desert Eagle
You preferred a weapon with 41% power over speed and 70% range over melee.
You use a Desert Eagle.

One of the most powerful handguns in production, the Desert Eagle is a heavy punch in a small package. Its reliability and speed are remarkable for a gun with such high caliber. Your enemies won't stand a chance as you fell them bullet by bullet.

It may never work out. But suddenly, I don't feel as trapped any more.

Options are great. I wish you the best!

Actually, I prefer precision destruction. It was soooo much fun using a 155mm howitzer like a giant sniper rifle.

I dumped a whole bag of carrots out where I've seen bunnies, and they didn't eat them.

Okay, I gots to get movin' here. A casual weekend where Luke is spending a couple of days with cousins got filled up purty quickly.

Wife is on her way to a weddin' rehearsal. (son of our contractor is getting married). Mrs. is playing for the wedding. I'll join them for dinner. On the way to dinner, I have to stop by the funeral home.

A gentleman from our church passed away last night. He was in his 70s and had been battling cancer for a good while so it wasn't a surprise. He was in hospice at the VA hospital. Say a prayer for Pete, but mostly for his wife Peggy (of 52 years) and family.

The choir is singing at the service tomorrow. Mrs. will go directly from there to the wedding. Then we meet our small group for dinner.

So, it's pretty much non stop. But, since I'm not planning to plant more chipmunk food, I guess that's okay.

Prolly check in later this evenin'

Maybe they prefer to dig their own.

I've not seen any bunnies. And the squirrels don't seem so destructive. But the chipmunks are drivin' me nuts.

later.

When I was in Israel, we went by a park where they had three tanks that had been captured in Lebanon (I think). They were painted primary colors and the kids were playin' on 'em.

*sniff*...that'sjestbeautiful...

I like books like that.

Victor Hugo did that a bit. F'r'instance, in Les Miserables, he wrote a several-pages-long account of the Battle of Waterloo (and allegedly got bits of it wrong, but oh well) just to bring about a conversation and a life-debt owed between Sergeant Thenardier (he of the inn) and Colonel Pontmercy (Marius' father).

I don't know how well that survived in the musical (ptui! feh!*).

*Just my opinion; please don't be offended.

What do you take for that?

Oh, I see, some sort of plant. Sounds like a foot fungus or something :)

Take care Corin...

Whew, decided to do my homework before running. I discovered that I can run at least a little at this altitude so I ran a mile and walked almost two. And it's hot and muggy and we're not using the a/c this year. Well, that doesn't really matter anyway.

Shotgun
You preferred a weapon with 58% power over speed and 70% range over melee.
You use a Shotgun. While not the fastest gun in the west, a shotgun's raw power and ease of use make it an extremely potent weapon. Some shotguns can also be loaded with many different types of ammunition, providing a versatility many guns don't have. Choosing your shots, you fell your opponents immediately and without pause.

NONSENSE. Gimme an SMG and 200 rounds in 50-round sticks. And a scope for my SKS for the long-range battle.
