The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Ha ha!

No, it was just an observation. I find this woman mind-boggling. I can't believe we were ever friends. I can scarcely believe she can look me in the eye, but not only does she look me in the eye, she does it down her nose.

The only time I see her is occasionally at church and when I pick Matthew up from Latin. There are very few people I utterly dislike, most of the time I am indifferent. But I completely dislike her and I can feel it coming out of my face so I know she can sense it.

Her efforts to talk to me are not because she wants to be my friend, but to *prove* to herself that she didn't do anything wrong. Except she did.

We were talking about a manual about women right? I am pretty sure a 'special weird cases' would be redundant with the rest of the manual ;-D

Oh, you could be right. In which case how would one have a manual that covers all women? I think there ought to be a specific operator's manual for each woman.

Well I tried to contact the manufacturer but it is apparently a discontinued and unsupported model.

Manuals take more skill than automatics, though.

But manual transmissions are more fun... and the engines are more efficient... so...

Sure if it is just a puny internal combustion engine. But there is no way this is better than a Full Authority Digital Engine Control and auto throttles

But since we were starting from a metaphor regarding my relative lack of buttons, toggles, switches, and strange dials, I am not sure that configuration is truly superior. Though I could always develop some unlabelled weird buttons if that's what you really want, of course.

No, I am merely submitting that your lack of buttons and switches implies a more automatic configuration as opposed to an indecipherable manual system.
