Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I got the compost containment up...now I have a place to put my garden debris. Hadn't worried about it before...the chickens took care of the scraps.
~sigh~
While I was out there, five F-16s flew over...fairly low and beautiful.

Just got the first coat of paint on the walls. It's a little "rosier" than I intended, may have the paint store ratchet it down a notch when I go get the second quart. I'll wait and see what OB says, and besides, Tuesdays are "Senior Day" at the paint store and everything is 10% off for us old folks. LSA

If she knows that you are the engine behind all of this, then she ~knows~ you didn't really forget :-)
To: Peanut Gallery
Oh I know. She actually laughed about it and then spent the afternoon telling Luke to let it go. ;-)

So, what happens after ~this~ season?I think they've set up next season with the dying confession of one of the escapees as to where he had hidden the loot and he asked the lead actor to get it and split the monies with the felon's daughter. Also need to solve the question of who has set up Michael's innocent brother in the death of the vice-president's brother (who is not really dead, just in hiding). There are a couple of real bad-a** cons who always prove interesting, too.
If you watched "Homicide, Life on the Streets", you may remember, Michelle Forbes. She is in this series, too, and I believe she was the woman that got tossed over the railing on "24" in either Season 3 or 4. LSA

Sneaking on again just 'cause I'm ticked off and want to rant. Got the latest e-bill from the my phone company. Remember I've been saying I can't get a decent signal with thenewphoneIdidn'twant? Well...turns out what signal I *do* get, they apparently count as roaming / delayed somethingorother, so the few minutes of miserable reception I've used to try to tell folks I'll call 'em back someday have cost me big.
I'd take the phone back and trade it for a different one since the old one worked OK and it's apparently just this phone, but I don't think they'd let me do that. Plus the next one up would cost an additional thirty or forty bucks, I'd guess. And I don't want a land line. I just don't.
So I'm really feeling cranky.
To: RosieCotton
You may actually be able to take that one back, if you don't delay. Roaming or not, it's not even been workable and you've had it less than 30 days.
BUT, that said, if you look through the menus, you may be able to set it to "never roam". Right now, it's probably trying to find the strongest signal, even if there's a 'home' signal available that's weaker. I had one that did that. I set it to never roam and it would make do with any on network signal it could find.

Heh...you'll grow to love it!

Supposedly there's a new Verizon store on Sleater-Kinney...so I wouldn't have to go back to Tacoma if I did decide to take it back. I guess it's worth a try. Maybe they have some sales going on that would make the next one up almost a straight trade. That's if they'll take a used one back...but in general their customer service has been very good, which is one reason I'm frustrated now.
But the menu thing is worth checking, even on a new phone. I don't want to get burned again.

Heh, no distractions. We got to Ithaca in time on Sat. for the Law School Open House, but we didn't get to meet any of the teachers Paul liked. Either they'd left early or never arrived. Did Mexican for supper, then he went to visit with some of his friends and we went back and crashed. Got to Mass, in town, then to Graduation in time. It was very nice, and there was a Champagne reception afterwards. We just sat there enjoying the food and stuff, and were the last to leave along with a couple of Paul's friends and their families. He was going to come out to the place and bring some food later on, and we just vegged watching a movie and waiting for him. We realized, about 10 pm that we had NO cellular service there, and couldn't call him because the house phone doesn't allow long distance, and his cell phone is a MA area code. So when we got packed up and to his place this morning we found out that he'd fallen asleep Sun. night, woken up about 9pm and tried to call us, left a voice mail, but we never heard it until this morning. Oh well. He'll be home later, and will be here the rest of the summer until he gets a place in Boston, or until we move, whichever comes first. It will be vey helpful having him here to work with us doing remodeling, painting and packing.
I called home, on our drive home, and Joseph answered the phone. The first thing out of my mouth was "Why aren't you in school?". He'd gotten sick last night, Clare woke him up about 8 this morning, but he said he didn't feel well and was going to stay home. Problem was, I didn't tell them what to do in that situation. We're supposed to call before 10 am if they're not coming in. So when I found out he'd NOT gone in, I called the school about 1pm and told my friend in the office what had happened. Whatever. They survived the weekend, and we had a good time.
