Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Weird... yeah, that's the word for it... weird...
Anyway, I'm beginning to think we may actually get moved this weekend. Amazing.
Good night!

You could just wait five minutes, then make the post.

We get free lunch and a half-day off on Friday. Plus, it's Pay Day.

Last month, I came up with a short story (currently titled
The Gift Of Sight) in my science-fiction universe that now has the potential to become a 50k word novella ... I'm trying to save the novella for NaNo, but if I don't write
something on this, I may just explode.
There are about a half-dozen chapters of The Gift Of Sight where the main character secretly observes other characters interacting through windows. I'm going to write those "window" scenes twice --- once as short stories from the perspective of the participants, once in the novel from the main character's perspective.
And I think I have real-life NaNo partners --- a former co-worker and her sister might write with me.

It's my last day at the school job. So of course my boss asks me to come in before eight because the person who is supposed to open up the labs can't be there. Heh.

~mornin'~
Stopping by quickly on my way for more coffee.
Rose - I don't have a plot or a setting. I just have a hankering to build a story around two characters named "Chester Drawers" and "Strippity Do-Dah."
So, there's that...
(lunch anyone?)

I'm thinking about trying another rewrite of a story that's been bugging me for years now... I've got the setting right now (that took three rewrites) and the basic plot but every time I write it, it changes. It's interesting, actually, almost a metaphor of where I am as a writer when I try writing it.

Nope. Missed it. Iceland is on GMT with London.
Huh. Not Thule, Greenland either.
Apparently it isn't lunchtime anywhere just now.
That's interesting. Sorta.

I was thinking about that. Apparently we're in some daily double-illusion-free hour. Only forty minutes left. Not sure what to do with it.

Some varmint put a hole in my cheap plastic fence.Sneaky little varmint!! Did ya buy the fence at the same place I bought the cheap-a** faucets?
Oh, it was kinda funny, I hadn't brought up the replacement faucet issue with OB when he got home Tuesday night. He was reading through the HH posts, and found my post to you; a different way of breaking the news, I guess.

We got quarter sized hail the other night. Dang near beat my garden to death. Punched holes in all my squash leaves and flattened my lettuce. It stripped so many leaves off the trees that it looked like Fall, except all the leaves were new green leaves!
In other news, we had a platter of fresh sliced squash, carrots and even a couple of sliced radishes with our supper last night...dipped it in blue cheese.
Great!
MIL is still here...will check in when I can.

Hummingbird at the feederHow wonderful!! I really should get one of those...
To: LSAggie
Heh...yeah, I guess. :)
I figured if a rabbit didn't have enough gumption to knock over an unanchored coil of screening, it'd just stop at the fence.
Guess I was wrong.
