Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Until the stars are all alight
New verse:
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Kids didn't want to get up.
Becky forgot to do her homework (even though I asked her all weekend if she'd done it).
She then realized she left her bookbag in her dad's car.
Her dad works at the airport and couldn't bring it back.
Becky begins to wail about how she is gonna get a lunch detention for showing up without her homework.
Scrambled to find a sitter for her.
Dropped Aly off at daycare - forgot the check to pay for this week.
Dropped Becky off at her grandmother's.
Ran to Post Office to ship those boxes.
Managed to rip off a fingernail loading said boxes into shopping cart.
Automated Postal Center does not handle those Flat Rate boxes so I stood in line for a half-hour to get those stamped.
Arrived at the office to find out I have around 30+ payrolls to process.
And I still haven't put on any makeup cuz' I'm sweating.
I'm going out for a smoke since now I'm just laughing after reading all that! ;-)

That would make for a pretty crummy week, let alone a morning. :-)

He set up a system in which each of us has a set of numbers, according to birth order and boxes of things that belong to us is numbered in that sequence.Wow... I wish we were that organized!

I've numbered my boxes, but only so I can tell if one is missing.
I should have written up a log of some kind detailing what exactly is in each box, but it's too late now. :-/

That would be like handing the Ring over to Sauron. ;-) Nah, more like Wormtongue.
Unless, of course, Sauron has been to Nepal.

I have so few boxes I'm just labelling them, but the books are labelled by genre, size, and alphabetically. I got a little carried away. Plastic tubs go unlabelled - I will open them in September and be pleasantly surprised by what's inside.

I haven't been to Nepal so obviously I cannot take the shoes.
I'm a little worried that you all instantly knew what I was talking about.

I put a code on each box from the house to identify what's inside (like, SF - A-G for SF books, author's names in the range of A to G) but we don't have a log or anything to tell us exactly how many boxes we have, or how many of each kind.
Saturday & Sunday we didn't label the boxes from the garage at all... just boxed 'em, sealed 'em, and moved on to the next one, trying to get done as quickly as possible.
To: Bear_in_RoseBear
Yup.
It's backbreaking work. But it'll feel wonderful when it's all over and you get to the unpacking part!

Unpacking...? You mean, we get to do all of this... in reverse?
Unngghhh...
