The Hobbit Hole XXIX - Until the stars are all alight...
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 04/20/2006 2:10:46 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Until the stars are all alight

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Forty bucks won't fix it...the part costs more'n what I paid for the dryer, and I don't trust myself to do the labor.

It works...it just never shuts off until you shut it off manually.

Heh...

Speaking of which, am I on dogsitting duty for Saturday? Are you picking Mae up at some point?

Do you know ~where~ the timer is? Maybe look and see if it is just a connection?

Heck... if they don't change timers every year, maybe we could pick through some Maytags at the dump and find another one.

I might be able to find a service manual on-line, I guess.

It's a Kenmore...there have to be a lot of those out there.

Ah - right... Kenmore. Yeah - popular enough...

I think a barn that size might take up more than 100% of the yard. I wouldn't complain but I want flowers and a dog so you'd better leave the yard as-is.

Hair, thanks for posting the pictures, Tweek is quite the regal lady, and Pippin is a handsome rascal.

The addition to the Ridge is outstanding. Quite a fine looking building.

A .22 pellet pistol works effectively as well. (or so I've been told)

Guy with the storage shed says it could be moved without disassembling, provided you had a truck big enough for it.

So there's that.

Cisco is hot. Poor guy...it's gotta be eighty in here, and here he is with a heavy coat, but he doesn't really want to be out alone.

I need a table and chair for outdoors, I guess. Betcha I could even get a decent Freepin' signal even in back, since I'd be outdoors. Maybe not, since I'd be on the other side of the building. Can test it later. Wish this thing wasn't so hefty.

With this heat and the week I've had, I could really do with a margarita. Wanna hop the next flight out and make me one?

You gotta be able to open the windows this summer or you're gonna roast..... we'll work on that this week.

With the day I've had, I need a margarita too. I'd be there if I didn't have to pack this weekend.

On the other hand, I'm going to Outback tomorrow night and I'm definitely, definitely getting one then.

You need a lot of stuff... let me know when and which things you want to act on. :~D We're goin' over to Tiff's now to feed. Back later with Mae... hopefully we can let her play with Cisco a bit outside.

On the positive side, my electricity bill dropped sixty bucks this month, and I imagine will drop further if the warm weather keeps up, despite the washer and dryer's running cost.

Yeah - the main thing is not needing the heat... and that nifty new fridge of yours :~D

Cool! Can't wait to meet her!

For outside furniture...I'll probably just pick up one of those dirt cheap plastic chairs to start with. That'll fit in the van. So would a matching dirt cheap plastic table, for that matter...but for that, I may wait for something sturdier. Or look at garage sales.

I want to hit some sales tomorrow, but I have to figure out how that's gonna work.
