NEW YORK - No surprise: David Lee Roth's run as morning radio host is about done. Big surprise: It appears raunchy satellite radio stars Opie and Anthony will replace him on seven CBS Radio stations.
Opie and Anthony were banished from terrestrial radio in 2002 oddly enough by their new boss, CBS Radio after airing a live account of listeners having sex in New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.
A deal was in the works to dump the ex-Van Halen singer's ratings-deprived program with shock jocks Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, according to two people with knowledge of the deal. They spoke Thursday on condition of anonymity pending an official announcement of the agreement next week.

Well at least they didn't replace him with Sammy Hagar.
Its OK in CBS's book to hire people who have desecrated St. Patricks cathedral.
They must be out of their minds.
IMO, Opie and Anthony are human excrement. But I guess you shouldn't expect much more from CBS Radio than filth and fart jokes.
I'd like to see CBS radio go down the tubes.

(AP) The government on Thursday proposed the second-biggest fine ever for indecency: $357,000 against Infinity Broadcasting for a radio segment in which a couple was said to be having sex in New York's St. Patrick's Cathedral.
The Federal Communications Commission responded to an outpouring of complaints following an August 2002 broadcast of the "Opie and Anthony" show over New York's WNEW-FM and 12 other Infinity radio stations. The nationally syndicated show was canceled a week later and DJs Greg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia were fired.
Does this mean that O & A will no longer be on XM?
From smokinggun.com:
AUGUST 23--We don't usually agree with the Catholic League, but moronic shock jocks Opie and Anthony got just what they deserved for broadcasting last week's stunt involving the Virginia couple arrested for having sex in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia were canned yesterday for the August 15 incident that resulted in the arrest of Brian Florence and Loretta Harper for public lewdness. Opie and Anthony flunky Paul Mercurio--who provided listeners with a running account of the St. Pat's incident--was also arrested. Florence and Harper--dubbed the "Juicy Lips" team--were one of several couples entered in the radio show's "Sex for Sam" contest, where participants were given points for having sex in public places like St. Patrick's (25 points), Trump Tower (15 points), and Central Park (10 points).
They were also awarded points for specific sex acts, with the WNEW-FM hosts gleefully reporting when couples completed a "two-point conversion" or "balloon knot," Opie and Anthony slang for anal sex. At one point, Hughes announced what the Virginia couple earned for the St. Patrick's stunt: "Oh my God, 25 points, a two-point conversion, and eternal damnation."
Opie & Anthony
You can bet if they did this in a mosque they would never work in radio again instead of getting a fat contract from CBS
"I'm one of the few fans of the Roth Radio Show."
What's he like as a radio host?
That's a good question...
I enjoy listening to them sometimes on XM...
they had only been on the radio for a couple months when the incident happened.
From smokinggun.com:
According to the misdemeanor complaint filed against Florence and Harper, the couple was spotted having sex in a church vestibule, "rocking their pelvises back and forth." Harper, with her back to Florence, was found naked from the waist down and "her genitals were open to view by the public." For his part, Florence was spotted placing "his hands in his genital area and was touching his genital area."
O & A paid people to desecrate St. Patrick's Cathedral.
I doubt CBS Radio will sign them.
Fake but accurate filth and fart jokes. Courage.
I dropped K-Rock (Howard Stern's old station) from my pre-set stations in my car because I wanted to hear music -- not bullsh!t -- on these FM stations.
DLR wasn`t that bad. A couple of his shows were very good.
One i`m thinking of is where he and a friend talk about old queen music and disect it musically. The specific song being 'Doing All right'.
His archive shows are here:

No, SAMUEL ADAMS paid people to do that. Then they cowardly denied any knowledge of the contest.
