The victim, a single mom who turned to exotic dancing to support her two kids, attends North Carolina Central University, a mostly black college in Durham.

She plans to keep a low profile until the students go on trial to avoid inflaming tensions in the black community, where opinion is running heavily against the privileged students.

One of the most hurtful things for the woman about the media circus surrounding the case, the cousin said, is the tendency to assume the worst about her because she is a stripper.

"She's a victim and she's a human being," the cousin said. "Her occupation couldn't justify that a crime like this was committed."

Yeah, how about Duke suspending the two players from school, probably two weeks shy of the end of the school year? I'm not saying that they would have gone to class but maybe they could have shown up to take their finals. Let's throw these kids under the bus at every opportunity to protect the schools "image." I think Coach K's recruiting has just got a lot tougher.

It is Duke's policy to suspend anyone who has been charged with a felony until it is resolved. If they didn't do it this time, they would never be able to do it again.

It seems to me there's some doubt about whether they are rapists or not. There is no doubt that they have some serious personal problems, and that reputation will be earned.

School administrators aren't necessarily tolerant of fraternity shenanigans. I think one fraternity at the University of Washington was suspended after repeated alcohol and hazing violations, which in one case led to the death of a student.
