Expectant mom dies in collision
A 27-year-old expectant mother died in a head-on collision Sunday on U.S. 31 in Shelby County, authorities said.
Sarah Porter, 27, of Jemison died in the 11:20 a.m. accident, said Sgt. Tim Sartain, Alabama State Troopers spokesman. She was six months pregnant, said Doug Ballard Jr., Shelby County coroner.
Her husband, 29-year-old Heath Porter, remained in critical condition at UAB Hospital Sunday night, said Bob Shepherd, hospital spokesman.
Marco Guarviola, 26, address unknown, a passenger in the 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck that collided with the Porters' 2002 Volkswagen, was also taken to UAB Hospital, where he was listed as critical Sunday night, Shepherd said.
Manuel Valdez, 22, address unknown, who was also in the truck, was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center. Efforts to reach a hospital spokesman Sunday night were unsuccessful.
The accident, which occurred in the Saginaw community just south of Alabaster, is under investigation, Sartain said. He declined to provide details.
Several serious accidents have occurred at the site, Sartain said.
"I don't understand why so many accidents have occurred at this particular location," Sartain said. "Traffic is moderately heavy, but the street is a straight, two-lane stretch."
Accident fatalities are always sad, Sartain said.
"But this happening on Easter Sunday is such a tragedy," he said.

I don't like what's going on with illegal immigration right now. I think it's a serious problem that needs to be seriously addressed. But when I get the feeling from other people on "my" side that some of their opposition to illegal immigration is because they think we're being invaded by "dirty brown people" it makes me sick.
AND no one on this thread is defending illegal immigrants, they just asked you to provide a link to your claim that illegal immigrants had anything at all to do with this! Not everyone in this country with a Hispanic name is illegal!
I can see why you would feel this way with the people attacking me using phrases like "cross burnings."

You're the one who seems to think other posters' ethnicities have a bearing on whether or not their opinions count. Especially when they aren't defending illegal immigrants, just inquiring about your apparent bias.
I don't see anything in the keywords so presumably they got cleaned up but I know in the past, lurkers or drive-by posters have trashed keywords on threads so unless you're a moderator and can tell who posted a keyword, don't go accusing other people.
Well, then I wish the admin mod also would remove the other 2 remaining keywords, since there IS NO LINKED SOURCE that this story has anything to do with immigrants, illegal or not.
