Breaking overnight from Chris Cummo at ABC GMA:
Case against at least one Duke defemdant unraveling fast.
Defendant Seiligman went to bank ATM while rape supposedly happening.
12:02 Time stamped photos show girl arriving. Girl leaves, comes back, call friends on cell phone does other things. 12:19 Seiligman calls cab dispatcher 12:24 Seiligman takes cab to bank miles away, uses ATM card (photos show it is him.) 12:42 after walking back to dorm, Seiligman uses security card to enter dorm. Does not leave.
Also, Seiligman was never interviewed by cops. DA seeking reelection simply took "Dancers" word that he raped her.
Does anybody know if this kid is related to the Seligmans of NYC? IIRC, Seligman is suing the DA of NYC (Spitzer) for overeaching his authority:

Dispatchers and drivers have been known to work together to take calls "off the meter" and split the cash.
If they guy called for a taxi, there will be a phone record.
The Grand Jury is provided no contrary testimony. There is no defense present or available. Grand Juries are the tools of the prosecution. And they do not have to be unanimous. A majority will be sufficient to indict.
Lots of people take cabs for distances that can be walked in 15 minutes; especially after drinking. A fifteen minute walk is about a mile or so. Lots of people won't walk that far.
I reported on a case where the accused said he couldn't have assaulted and stabbed a black prostitute because he was deeply racist and disgusted by black women.
He brought witnesses to his racism and was acquitted.
Most likely, though, it was his timeline of leaving a bar north of the incident and paying a toll south of it that got him acquitted. Not enough time to get off highway, stab a ho and get back to the toll booth.
She offered to do something degrading for money. They took her up on it. I think her offer is a priori indication NOT of "compelling psycho-social circumstances" or any other pinko BS, but of makng a totally lousy and tending-toward-self-destructiveness choice. If you make a totally lousy and ditto choice and I take you up on it I think that's exploitation. If you were to say,"I want to kill meself spectacularly," and I were to say,"I'll pay to watch," I think I'd be exploiting you.
My construction does not depend on her race or history. It's almost atomic, or context free or something like that. She is degrading herself as a potentially rational animal and child of God, and they as much as said,"Cool! If you want to degrade yourself, we will happily spend some time thinking of you as a chunk of flesh, as something less than fully human."
Having been the IO at a number of jury trials involving rape, I rate the defense guys as first class.
Thanks for that bit of wisdom Ray. I'm going to use that one for my kid too. When I think of all the trouble I could have avoided if I had just left when I knew I should have.
I think there is some hard evidence the kid went to his dorm after the fast food joint - a recorded ID swipe or something like that.
Nevertheless, there were seedy goings-on involving the Duke lacrosse team and two exotic entertainers. They were being well-paid, and the team expected SOMETHING for the money.
Was a crime committed? I wouldn't be surprised if someone along the way broke some law or another. There are so many!
And it wouldn't come as a total shock to me if some of the boys used a litle muscle to get what they wanted at a favourable price. Now I don't know that that happened. Just wouldn't shock me.
I agree that the timeline does not entirely exculpate the fast-food eater. Whatever happened, it happened between 12:10 and 12:30, and he could have been at the house as late as 12:20, according to a pretty convincing analysis I read off Drudge. Maybe he bugged out when things got a little out of hand.
Why did she leave her purse and $400 cash? She's a pro and she went there to make money, right?
On the other hand, DNA testing of the team presumes there was a sample to test against. Yeah, it's pretty icky territory. If there were no matches against the students, just who does the sample match? No search for truth and justice could avoid that little problem.
Stop laughing. I know Truth with a capital-T is taking a back seat to Re-election with a capital P (for pandering).
YEah and all an indictment means is that there's enough evidence here to make us think it ought to be tried.
You really over analyzed this whole thing. The girls a slut and strips at frat partys for drunk college guys. Been going on for years . It wouldn't excuse a rape for sure but I dont think a rape happened. I think the black dancer exploited the situation rather than the other way around.

I think some people are implying that he went to the ATM to give himself an albi although this theory wouldn't make any sense.
IO = "Investigating Officer"?
And I rate the DA and his failure to investigate the alleged victim and gather facts prior to making a decision as totally unprofessional. IMO Malfeasance, malpractice, and unethical.
Yes, she voluntarily enlisted in a self-destructive "trade". Yes, the Duke Boys dabbled in her self-destructive trade. She's a full grown female.
Making choices.
Conversely, if we are to use the "exploitation" agenda, ESCORT services "exploit" horney guys, no? Taking advantage of a naturally occurring condition in order to prey upon males. Perhaps the chicks who are constantly putting together promiscuous shots of male firefighters are taking advantage of men. Are they exploiting the guys? No.
Why did she leave her purse and $400 cash?
probably because she was completly wacked out of her mind. I read where she fell down the back stairs of the frat house afterwards and was passed out in the car right afterwards. Believe it or not I've heard of a super drunk girl leaving her bag in bar.

I nominate you for the Nancy Grace "Every Alibi Helps The Prosecution" Award. Please pick it up in the Psych Ward with some complimentary Zyprexa.
I'm not saying this helps the prosecution. I was just speculatin'.
