Video of graffiti artist "tagging" Air Force One

OK. I rarely do vanities. But somebody gave me the link to this website (stillfree.com) and a video on it that I can't believe. It's a video of some guy named Mark Ecko--apparently some kind of New York graffiti artist/clothing designer/game geek/entrepeneur/slacker--"tagging" one of the Presidential aircraft at Andrews AFB with graffiti.
That's right. He actually gets close enough to the plane--a converted 747 that may or may not be one of the two used as Presidental transports, I really can't tell--to spraypaint "STILLFREE" on the #2 engine nacelle.
So I guess Abdul and Mahmoud know what to do now. Just sneak around with a hoodie and a can of Krylon (new! with anthrax!) and you can cruise right up to Presidential aircraft. I'm pretty sure some security police are in big, big, big trouble after this video gets around.
Oh, and be sure to check out his "why I tagged Air Force One" video. Self-important little twit.

This video looks very real.
Is it recent?
Tagging the engine nacelle of AF1 while it sits at Andrews...
Mark, Tony - any news on this?

I'm guessing that there's some video trickery involved here. Some real footage of Air Force One melded with video of a self-important hump spray painting a blue screen in a studio.
I could be wrong, but I think its a well done hoax. Either way, at least we know what became of the "Blair Witch" cinematographer.

Yeah. This is a phony tape, somehow digitally tinkered to make it look like Ecko defiled AF1. As someone who has flown on AF1 as a member of the media many times, it is not possible that Ecko -- or anyone -- could have pulled this off. For one, the plane is
never parked that close to a fence. Ever. It's always out in the open -- especially at Andrews -- and would take a sprint of at least 150 yards to get to the engine. And guards don't walk by on patrol like some World War II prison camp movie. They form a phalanx/perimeter and keep very sharp eyes out at all times.
Also, the engines of AF1 are up pretty high. Ecko would have to reach up at least 12 feet to spray where he said he sprayed.

I should point out that Ecko has admitted that the tape is a hoax.

Honestly, I can't believe he wasn't shot while doing it.
It may look real - but I've got a $20 that says it's fake.

Ya... He's a blithe on our culture. Did you see his video "Why I tagged AF1"? What a waste of ability. That kid could speak very well. It's a damn shame he was ill programmed. If he new construction, I'd hire him as a salesman in a nano second...
Trouble is, he is caught up in "cultural barriers and cultural diversity", and needs to express himself to the lowest common denominator of society...

D'oh. Well, I feel pretty stupid. Last thing I wanted to do is perpetuate an Internet hoax.
Sorry, everyone, I got pwned big-time.
Mods, feel free to yank the thread or tweak the title to indicate it's a fake or whatever.

LOL...it was a damn good fake.
Don't feel so bad.
It was only when one poster pointed out that the engine nacelles of a 747-400 are about 12 feet off the ground -- I knew that but somehow forgot it -- that I realized I had been scammed.
Damn good fake!

Heh, actually, somebody on the other thread (Debbie Schlussel got taken by this one too so I don't feel so bad now) posted a picture of a 747, and the nacelles aren't that high. I think he got the proportions about right. Someone over there mentioned that he'd seen an old 747 in an airplane boneyard in California painted in AF1 colors, so it's possible he used that. Or the whole thing could be a pretty darn good CGI job.
I had to go tell the friends that emailed it to me that it was a fake...they didn't bother reading the disclaimer either. :)

It's a fake. The shadow of the engine nacelle on the fuselage exactly matches the curvature of the engine nacelle... but it falls on a curved surface, which should distort the shadow. In addition, the shadow does not match the angle shadows on the engine nacelle itself showing that the light source is different on the engine nacelle and on the fuselage but cannot be both since the light source on the engine should be making the shadow.
To me, it looks like the fuselage is a flat surface.

"One thing he mentions that I didn't know, assuming it's true--it is illegal to be in possession of a broad-tip marker or a can of spray paint in New York City if you're under 21."
That's probably true. Denver has a similar law regarding spray paint.
