A lot of player-haters on this thread.

Go run your own oil company, OK?

has this man ever pumped gas into a car?

I do not know Mr Raymond but do know the man who proceeded him in the job. I first met Larry Rawls at a Houston Astrodome Sky Box when I was a teenager and he was a VP of Exxon USA, a long way from CEO of Exxon Corp. He was in khakis and boots and looked like a maintenance man.

My dad had known him since Rawls was a field engineer, I think in Louisiana. He earned his money and I bet Raymond did also. I know what they did for the stock.

He committed the worst sins imaginable to lefties.

He was rich, fat, white, AND didn't give them money.

I know some real regular people that have done very well financially....while working in the O & G industry.

I would expect that most are just regular hard-working people...

FWIW-

The face of big oil, I guess

No, I am the face of big oil, and so are the thousands of other investors.

This guy earned it. He had the job because he deserved it. It's not like he's a hooters girl or something.

I believe he earned it, the company did amazingly well under him. But let's just say this is not the best time for "Big Oil". There are record prices, and record profits. The government has never put a good energy policy in place. Our way of life is vulnerable to countries who hate us controlling the supply. Do you expect a 400 million dollar retirement package to go over well publicly?

Yes, for those who understand market economics. Those sucking the educational teat of socialism will be pissed off.

Which is probably 99.8% of the American public.

Big Oil has been the leftist's punching bag since the mid-70's. I worked for Gulf Oil (Rest in Peace) back then and remember well the finger pointing.

In fact, someone set a bomb off in the Gulf Building in April or May 1974 on the floor above the one I worked on. It went off in the evening. My boss was at work though. He was a dry-witted Canadian chemical engineer and was interviewed by the press - said he'd seen worse explosions in college labs.

I don't know if they ever found out who set it off. They suspected the radical group Weathermen.
