Stargazer falls to death from rooftop
The Boston Herald ^ | 04/17/2006 | Laura Crimaldi

Posted on 04/16/2006 10:05:42 PM PDT by Panerai

A romantic stargazer who was just days away from whisking away his girlfriend on a surprise Paris trip to pop the question plummeted to his death early yesterday morning when he fell from the roof of his Massachusetts Avenue apartment.

“He had the tickets. He had the ring. He just didn’t have the time,” said Don Coulon, whose 28-year-old son, Gregory, was found dead after falling from the roof at 552 Massachusetts Ave.

Coulon, 28, a Boston University systems analyst and computer programmer, was set to jet his girlfriend of several years, Michelle Kovach, to the City of Lights Wednesday where he planned to ask her to be his bride.

“If two people were meant to be together, it was those two. They finished each other’s sentences. . . . She loved Paris. I think that’s why he wanted to take her back there,” said Don Coulon of Sarasota, Fla.

Coulon, who lived on the sixth floor, was on the roof with a mutual male friend when he disappeared.

Police later found him after opening a door that led to an air shaft in the basement of the apartment building, said Officer Mike McCarthy, a Boston police spokesman.

While police are investigating the death, Paul Coulon thinks his nephew may have been on the roof stargazing.

“He loved astronomy. They were up on the roof looking at the stars, stargazing,” said Paul Coulon, a New Hampshire resident. Coulon was an avid astronomy enthusiast who studied at Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., as a boy and took astronomy as a major for a short time while he was an undergraduate at BU.

His girlfriend, Kovach, was being comforted in seclusion yesterday by her parents at the apartment she shared with Coulon. The couple had planned to entertain family for Easter dinner.

I know. Couldn't be someone trying to make FR an undesirable site, could it?

My point is, she was Googling when her ex-boyfriend has been killed and she comes on here miracuously to complain that this is a PUBLIC forum? I thought this belonged to Mr. Jim. If he didn't want the comment on it, he has vicious, despicable, hard nosed mods to fix it.

Would you want someone to say that about you if you had an tragic accident?

No.

I'd want them to say, "Sh!t.   I wanted to kill him."

I don't know what more we could possibly be accused of! I mean, we're already pegged as racist, bigoted, homophobe, Gnatzi-Earth trashing SUV lovers, LOL! ;)

So we're nit-picking her choice of wording now in order to justify our total lack of empathy for our fellow man.

Who cares if this is a public/private forum. What forum is truly Public? Every site out there is owned by someone. Her point was that this site is available to the public. You can see this by doing a google search on most any topic.

Unfortunately, those searches will also find some of the most racist and hateful posts on this site. Ironically, these posts are often by people who consider themselves as Christians.

I would rather not have that kind of thing associated with FR or Conservatism.

As with the non-stop Darwin comments, only an absolute idiot would think they are funny. If you have nothing more to add just keep your comments to yourself......Uhhh, newbie, keep it to yourself.

I just registered just to reply to this thread: I promise you'll never hear from me again.

As a neighbor and friend of Greg's, I find most of these postings absolutely appalling, offensive and idiotic. I was a witness when Greg passed away (yes, Diana: I can claim I knew the victim and was there when it happened) and the pain caused by this traumatic experience will remain with me for a long time. I don't know his family, but do know his girlfriend Michelle and I can't even start imagining what they are going through right now.

I was looking up Greg on the internet to see if there were articles about the accident. The whole tragedy has been completely misreported by TV and papers, as journalists always do anyway. I was trying to find an article or interview that actually stated things they way they went... and bumped into this site, which I didn't know existed, where people deride something that for some of us has been the most horrible, unexpected tragedy.

People who wrote:

should have their accounts suspended. It's true that some people have funny reactions to tragedies, but this kind of humor cannot and should not be considered a reaction to a trauma because it simply didn't touch YOU. I would be ashamed.

I really hope Michelle will never read this. It's absolutely awful, and believe me it didn't take much time to find it, because it's one of the few links on Google that had something about Greg's death.

I'm not a Republican. I never sympathized with Republicans and have even less respect for Republicans after reading this page.

Best,
Rob
