For the ping list.
SNIP
As is often the case with Parker and Stone, they built "South Park" around the incident. In Wednesday's episode, the character Kyle is shown trying to persuade a Fox network executive to air an uncensored "Family Guy" even though it had an image of Muhammad.
They wrote the show ~after~knowing it would be censored... the censorship was not a surprise, it was built into the whole gag.
*I don't think "angered" is really their style... Inspired, more like it.
Well its hard to argue that refusing to show Mohammed was a bad buisness move for Comedy Central. Think of all the free publicity that they're getting. If they had shown Mohammed some of the PC advertisers might have pulled their commercials, which would have hurt Comedy Central. So the fear is probably a rational fear - the fear of losing money.
Personally I am glad they took Swift off tv and hope he never returns.
Parker and Stone's message was about defending free speech even in the face of harsh criticism, even threatened violence.
And how exactly would CC lose ad revenue? You do know how few devout Muslims live in this country, right? And how many of these few do you think even watch a show like South Park to begin with?
Or have Muhammed look like somebody completely different like Brent Musberger, Patrick Duffy, or Don Rumsfeld.
I got socks older than you and think they are funny as hedoublell.
Is that Darth Chef behind Timmy?
Agree with you 100 percent.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz..........
Fart jokes don't do a lot for me but they are supposed to be 9 year old boys.
When their satire bites it takes a great white sized chunk out.
Christians are prohibited from such behavior by the very teachings of Christ.
You got the message of the show exactly ass backwards. They were not pointing out that Christian reaction to slights were inadequate. They were pointing out the muslim reaction is idiotic and criminal.
And those, like Comedy Central and just about 99% of western media, who gave into the psychotic demands of Islam are weak-willed pussies who deserve to be mocked without mercy.
It sounds a bit odd, but I took the image of Christ shitting on the President and the American flag as a substantial compliment towards Christianity, when viewed in context.
Most people in their late 40's and above don't care for them.
At 51, I have to agree with your statement about not being for the faint of heart. There are times when I cringe and say "Cut that off!" but sometimes the message has to be wrapped in what we consider taboo.
Have mohammed look like a photo of Ryan Seacrest.
How oh how did you catch that?
I have *got* to get a TV card for our home pc.
Lost ad revenue? lol. Yeah that is it. Why offend 1% when you can go after 90%?
Because muslims have such a good sense of humor and they (Comedy Central) would lose the millions of muslim viewers "/sarc off"
I think some advertisers might be afraid to be associated with a show that stirs up a lot of bad press, and you know making fun of Islam wouldn't play well in the MSM.
It's Butters.
